  • Wichita State sells out every seat in their arena to season tickets

While some MVC programs are experiencing big drops in attendance and season ticket sales, Wichita State sold out their entire arena to season tickets-
The Shocker ticket office announced Friday morning that it has sold the last of its 2014-15 men's basketball season tickets.

Over 99 percent of existing season ticket holders chose to renew their seats, and the 74 remaining seats were quickly claimed by those on the waiting list....

Attendance at the arena has topped the 10,000 mark at 152-consecutive regular season games, dating back to December of 2004.

We're all envious. There really isn't much else to do in Wichita and they have got it rolling for now. Makes you wonder why they spinned their wheels in basketball for so many years previously?

Good for WS......they are bucking the trend of lower attendance throughout D1 basketball last few years....NICE!

The MVC is very fortunate that Wichita has no football or the Shockers would be in a different conference. Main reason for their resurgence is 2 words. Gregg Marshall. Since the 08-09 season Wichita has been 146-32. That's how you energize your fan base. By the way did you know that Bradley hasn't beat Wichita since 2-24-10, a span of 9 games. In fact we've lost by double digit deficits in 8 of those games, 3 of them by over 30 points. Just sayin.

I still look for WS to leave at some point.....they could get a share of big TV money in a better conference as they can only make so much from the home arena dollars which are already been maxed out for a few years now!

Bradley had almost 8,000 season ticketholders just a few years ago - rivalling the number Creighton & Wichita had....
That's why the smallest crowds we had from 1995-98 and 2005-09 were in the 8800-9000 range....and there were no empties...
now we have about half that while both Creighton & Wichita have increased their base.
We gotta get winning but it is doubtful we're gonna get back to those numbers any time soon.

                Wichita Sate .....

Simply stated, the bottom line is that JG and MC have ruined Bradley Athletics and more specifically the mens basketball program. The trustees are also a part of this due to their non involvement in what has happened. This is a major problem for our city and Central Illinois since BU is so much a part of our community. In the final analysis, I believe this will eventually be exposed to the Central Illinois community because the PJS and other media, however slow to react, will not sit on this forever.

Here's another program that's selling lots more seats this year and it's gonna surprise you....

IUPUI just finished up a miserable 6-26 season (actually only 3 of their wins were over D-I opponents - one of which was Bradley)
..so you'd think they would have a big drop in season ticket sales this fall.........

but nope....season ticket sales are ALREADY UP 39% over last season and they are moving into a new arena that increases their seating capacity 500%!!
They also have increased corporate sponsorship tremendously and corporate ticket sales are up 200%
INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI Athletics Department will be hosting a 'Select-a-Seat' night at the newly renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum on Tuesday, Sept. 30. The event will run from 5-9 p.m. and will give fans their first opportunity to see the Jaguars' new home facility, including the newly branded home floor.

If they can do this in an enormous down year - wonder what they'll do when they start winning! BTW - a couple people in the Athletic Dept. are ex-MVC people

When they only have a few hundred season ticket buyers, it's not hard to get a 39% increase. Considering they are one of only two Division I schools in the city of Indianapolis (the other is Butler), a city of nearly 1 million people in the heart of the best basketball hotbed in the country, it's curious why they draw such tiny crowds. Their average attendance last year was just 615 per game.
In their best attendance season, 2003-04, the year after their only NCAA tournament appearance in 2003, they did draw 1649, but it's been on the decline since then.

IUPUI is moving out of their antiquated high school-like gymnasium, and into a renovated Fairgrounds Coliseum. It looks bigger, but it seats just 6,800. But it looks like it will be a big upgrade over "the Jungle".-

To be fair, there are tickets still available, for a price.

Development always keeps some back (as they should) for people that have cash to spend and want to join the bandwagon.

There are about 35 really good seats available, if you're new, and if you have some serious coin.

The price quoted for 2 row 7 seats was a SASO (yearly) contribution of $3200 + the price of the 2 tickets ($700 I think?) plus a donation of $40,000 spread over 3 years. After the 3 years it's just the SASO and the tickets.

A recent sale for a block of 6 tickets was rumored to have cost more than 100k.

                        We've got bills to pay.

Interesting - because Bradley similarly also has premium seats available right at courtside or just up a few rows...
but likewise, the cost is steep - $800-$1000 per ticket, plus a donation of $60,000 over 3 years - so we're right there with the Shockers

Except they tried to improve their program while BU seemed intent on ruining ours.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

A $60,000 fee for the rights to buy tickets is so stupid. A university rapes your wallet for 4-8 years depending on your level of degree and follows it up with regular calls asking you to give them more money. This bugs me almost more than anything else in this world. Between my alma mater and my wife's, I would guess we receive between 10-15 calls a month asking for donations.

I am proud of my SLU education but I paid them for it. The idea that I would ever give them another dime unless my children go there is insane to me.
