I'm sure we have recruited for every possible adversity that could come our way. No problem, I would think.

The preseason games will probably count towards the three games.
I also doubt AB gets any more than the 3 games.

Feel free to share those details of AB's case with us, because there has been virtually nothing reported since the minimal facts in the original police report nearly 2 months ago. I still find it odd that within 24-48 hours of the Daniel Ruffin arrest, we had the media reporting every little detail about the event, the victim's side, DR's side, why the victim was at DR's residence, how it happened, and interviews with everyone involved. Recall that there were even erroneous things reported about "kicking" and "ligature marks" on her neck that were patently false.
I am pretty sure I recall even seeing a press conferences by the prosecutor, and interviews with various people at Bradley, the police, as well as with a friend of the victim who coaxed her to file the charges, which she later said she wanted withdrawn.
I know times are tough in the newspaper business, but why the near total blackout of news coverage? People want to know more. What actually happened?

I also think that the coverage for Ruffin was much, MUCH more intense compared to Barnes for several reasons:
1. It happened in the middle of the season right before a home rivalry game that mattered. Barnes situation happened in the off-season while students were gone. There isn't the same urgency to resolve the matter because there aren't any games to miss and he's out of the public eye. The staff and school are afforded more time to let things play out.
2. Ruffin is a Peoria guy. Most people around here at least have name recognition with him so his issues are more "newsworthy" to PJS customers. Barnes is a JUCO recruit from out-of-state that most people wouldn't recognize.
3. People were willing to talk about Ruffin's situation - if they didn't talk, PJS would get much less information to run with. No one has commented on the Barnes situation, so they have nothing to speculate with and no additional leads to track.
4. Maybe BU learned their lesson of how NOT to deal with these situations after all of the mis-information that got out on the Ruffin saga and the "punishment" then re-punishment mis-hap. This time they play it close to the vest and deal with it as they see fit.
More importantly, why are we entitled to know exactly what happened anyway? Why does a suspension or punishment need to be announced now (unless he's a danger to society, which I think we can all agree he's not)? What's the harm in letting the facts come to light before a decision is made? Maybe BU feels he was wrongfully arrested and shouldn't face a suspension at all. Maybe they don't want to suspend him 3 games only to have to suspend him more as details come out. I don't understand the insistence on a knee-jerk reaction just for the sake of being able to tout a punishment and say "look at us, we don't tolerate domestic abuse".
For instance, I was arrested while at BU for supposedly beating some kid up outside a bar downtown because the cops were called and I had blood on my face when they showed up. I told a cabbie to call them. I stuck around to be a witness and make sure they got the right guy. What the cops didn't care to find out was that I actually just got off of work at another bar and stopped two guys from continuously kicking another kids head into the pavement. One ran, and the other one stopped. When I restrained him (bearhug), he was able to move enough to head-butt me causing the cut and the blood on my face. I spent the night in jail and the arrest is still on my record. Long story short, I had several court dates before the charges were eventually dropped by the States Attorney. I had several professors question my situation and had to meet with the Provost. Luckily, BU didn't hastily suspend me from school or drop me from my scholarship and waited until the facts were able to come out before making a decision. On the other hand, the arrest still affects my ability to do work in Peoria County. Is that fair? Is it fair that I have an arrest record in Peoria County because the cops were too lazy to figure out the whole story because it's a lot easier for them to arrest everyone first and let the courts figure it all out later? I'd say not.

BUBrave28, I agree with you. Sometimes the real facts are not what they are reported. When I was younger I also was accused of a crime I did not do..twice...the cops thought for sure they had the right guy..plus you have to remember they are cops here in Peoria where the mayor, Twitter Jim, tells 3 judges what to do and then sends the cops after the internet culprits because they said bad things about him. Boo Who!!!

It isn't just me. I have talked to a number of fans who wonder what's going on.
There are a lot of people who have donated a lot of money, and have a great deal invested in this program, and I think they deserve to know. Maybe some of the fans who plop down their hard earned money want to know what they are paying for.
But just as much, I wonder why there were people, including our local newspaper, who though it was so important to dig, investigate, and report every little detail the last time it happened, and who now seem perfectly happy to remain ignorant.
Wily, you and I know the details will eventually emerge. Why not get them out now? Why is everything so secretive?

I think I say 'Seemed'. I am human and I readily admit I could be wrong.

Resentment for the past will never serve anyone well and allows the ego to take control of all thoughts

Thanks for the psychology session.
Why is wanting to know the truth considered negative?
Why do some here attack other posters when you have a different opinion. You are welcome to your opinions if you'd rather not know about possible criminal actions by a player. But apparently those who do want facts are fair game for others for ad hominen attacks.
It may surprise you to know that I would like to see this team win as much as anyone here, and I have put my money where my mouth is.
