  • Syracuse terminates its multimillion dollar sports marketing deal

kinda weird....Syracuse must have some legal standing in the contract to do this but they just "terminated" their contract/deal with IMG Sports for $$$ millions - extending all the way to 2021...

Here's one that I had not heard before...

Texas Christian University has hired Walt Disney Corporation's marketing consulting subdivision firm to help them promote their athletics...
    specifically - "stadium experience"...

"It's just like Disney's approach to their theme parks ... "The experience starts as soon as you park your car."
" ... other collegiate athletic departments ... have all sought after Mickey Mouse's help.
"We??™ve reconnected with the fan, and they??™re noticing.."

I remember the Braves beating Syracuse bad on their home court several years ago. Press guide not handy or I'd know the score.

Exactly what BU needs to look at... improving and updating/refreshing the BU basketball game experience - in lieu of winning the MVC and going undefeated at home.

I was checking YouTube to see if there was any video highlights of that BU-Syracuse game, and found this old video report by Scott Miller of WRAU (channel 19) about the Braves' NIT championship. Fun watching the players and fans from 1982. Maybe some message board members are in this video? -
Bradley University won the NIT for the 4th time at the end of the 1981 - 82 season. When this was shot I was in Peoria for less than two months thanks to my ...

More video of the end of the NIT Championship game and coverage of the post game events-
video, sharing, camera phone, video phone, free, upload

And here is an old video of the BU-Tulane game in the 1982 NIT-
video, sharing, camera phone, video phone, free, upload

One other cool video- Indiana State at Bradley in 1979- Bradley held Larry Bird to the lowest scoring output of his entire career, high school, college, or pro. He had just 4 points on 1 basket and 2 FTs because of the constant double team defense put on by Dick Versace. Indiana State still won the game..-

Bird scoring only 4 points is misleading. I remember most of the game well. Most of the game he stood in the corner and was guarded by Harold McMath and I can't remember who else. He could have scored more and I believe Carl Nicks was their leading scorer that night.

Yes, you are right. The other guy who guarded Bird, along with Harold McMath, was Carl Maniscalco- you can see that in the brief video at about the .50 mark and especially at the 1:05 to 1:10 mark.
McMath is #44 and Maniscalco is #12 in white-

yeah - #12 was Carl Maniscalco - better known as Cisco - who was billed as being 6 ft in the program but was really probabaly closer to 5-9!
Watch him when he's right next to Larry Bird in that YouTube video - he's a foot shorter!

Back to the marketing thing. Do you get the idea that bringing in Disney, Mickey Mouse, Quik Change, BaBoom, and fan votes for mascots isn't helping central ill. Fans want good players, names who stay around more than a year, some one who can hit an open jumper, and maybe a game on Friday or Saturday in St. Louie
                    We miss you Coach Buescher
