  • Pick-em for this season's starting lineup

Let's get the debate started - I know it's early and summer is a slow time to get college basketball fans talking ...but here's the pick-em....
I will think of a good prize by the time the games start..........

Guess the starting five for the very first EXHIBITION GAME
..then as a tiebreaker - guess the announced attendance...

Honestly - it's currently difficult because we don't even know who we are playing in the first exhibition and where the game will be,
    however we can kinda know....
Last year it was Upper Iowa and it was at the Ren-Col...so it'll be some similar D-II or D-III and I am pretty sure the first exhibition will be at the Renaissance Coliseum.

So here are my guesses to get the ball rolling..........

    Starting five
    Omari Grier
    Ka'Darryl Bell
    Josh Cunningham
    Mike Shaw
    Xzavier Taylor

    attendance 3666

  • #2
    Shaw
    Morgan
    Barnes
    Jones
    Sutherland

The attendance is impossible to predict- this season, for the first time, the exhibition game and the Red-White game are included in every season ticket holder's package. If the season ticket package includes actual tickets to the exhibition game, and if they count all those tickets, the announced attendance could be 4,200+. But if the season ticket package includes just a voucher that can be redeemed for tickets, then the attendance will be much less.

Most exhibition games in past years have had attendance around 1,500-2,500.
Last year the official announced attendance was 3,085, but some season ticket packages included tickets to the game, which clearly were not all used. The actual attendance appeared closer to 1,000.

          still plenty of time...
the official start to the college basketball season is two months away

The earliest NCAA allows a game to be scheduled is Nov. 14 - and we do have a game on that date...
they thus allow practice to begin 42 days before that first game, so Bradley can begin practice on Oct. 3!

            Morgan
            Shaw
            Barnes
            Amerson
            Sutherland

3000 attendance but I have no idea really.

Amerson could easily be wrong with either bell or Greer instead.
Also possibly Taylor instead of Morgan.
The other three I would guarantee would start.
            Gotta stop feeding the trolls.

Would love to see an ALUMNI GAME as part of the activities during the Red-White and scrimmages...

BTW - you can go back to the last several starting lineup pick-ems...
In virtually every case, few or nobody got the predicted starting lineup correct....

In 2012 - some picked Shayok but a couple got the right lineup

In 2013...despite several picking Swopshire...one guy still won...
Oddly though at just about this exact time last year (2013) - Geno gave his starting lineup in a Dave Reynolds interview and he was 100% correct
(this was the same interview in which Geno also noted that SZ was one of the best players!)

"This team has more talent than last year’s.....
“If we had a game tonight, those guys who started the last game
(Lemon, Grier, Pickett, Auston Barnes and Prosser) would be the starters."

..and those were indeed the winners of last year's pick-em!

...so this year should be wide open because of player issues and injuries.... so keep guessing!

we are now just 40 days from the first day of practice in the 2014-15 season...
anyone know if we will have anything special on October 3?
BU has no other conflicting home events that night - no soccer nor VB...
..and it's less than a week after the Auction gets the season rolling...

Maybe host a fundraiser/dinner on Oct. 3 - hot dogs & spaghetti & view the first practice - and ask $25 - I think people will go for it if marketed well...?
Or have some alumni players there for a loose scrimmage? A dunk contest?
