  • Missouri Valley's Doug Elgin looking to create another interconference CHALLENGE

    ..to replace the MVC/MWC Challenge...

possibilities include CUSA, A-10, American, Summit, Sunbelt

I guess I am surprised with those possibilities mentioned that there isn't a single mention of the Horizon that we kinda play all the time and share the geography with

The A10 and American would laugh at such an offer right now. I know we're better than what we looked last year and only ended up 11th, but we have to get into the top 10 for either of those to be possible. The A10 was 7th last year and the AAC 8th. If we could get to 9th, maybe.

I wouldn't be excited about CUSA. They were 13th and are losing a couple of schools to the AAC this year. The Summit sucks at 16 and I'm not keen on the Horizon at 15. The Belt is horrendous.

If you want one that's regional, the MAC could be considered. They don't have a great rep but do have some solid programs and did finish right behind us at 12.

The WCC would be interesting, but the back end of that conference is usually pretty bad. Not that the MVC has been much better lately.

If Elgin is too eager to set something up, we'll end up with a weaker conference like CUSA or the Belt. I'm sure both would love it. If he'll wait for some teams to improve over the next couple of years then maybe we could get something setup with one of the more respectable conferences.
