  • Iowa State fires Wayne Morgan

No one saw this coming. Morgan has recruited some good athletes and had decent success. But there might be more to come of this recent recruiting "scandal".

Iowa State abruptly fired Wayne Morgan Thursday night, Morgan told ESPN.com.

Could this mean Jeremy Fears might be looking up Jim Les' cell number?

Wow, this is strange! A hastily called 10pm meeting that none of the coaches saw coming? Therer has to be more to this story than we've heard. The article says it has nothing to do with the recruiting story, but I have to believe Morgan was about to become an embarrassment.

Add one more school to the list of majors who will be throwing large sums of money at Greg McDermott, Dana Altman, Mark Turgeon, etc.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Morgan may be the only one at Iowa State that isn't knee deep in the scheduling scandal that was just exposed.
The higher ups are the ones who do all the scheduling, and make those cozy arrangements that funnel cash back to the biggies in the athletic dept. and get some recruits coming their way.

But they had to make someone their scapegoat, and with all the talent Morgan got, and with how weak it now appears the Big XII really is, I guess you gotta wonder how Iowa State could have ended up 6-10 in that conference!
The contract pays Morgan $750,000 through 2010, so someone is going to be spending a lot of bucks on this deal.

Morgan's entire staff was fired along with him, and
TWO of the players have already said they will not be back next year.
      (Curtis Stinson and Will Blalock)

By the way, Mississippi is talking to South Alabama's coach John Pelphrey about being the next Ole Miss coach.

And Mizzou's own internal investigation into the firing of Quin Snyder found that they (Mizzou folks, of course) did nothing wrong, surprise, surprise!

Here are some stories about who's hiring who for D-I jobs:

      Delaware:

      Northern Colorado (60 applications!!!)
MDGWIN kami yaitu sebuah link alternatif situs game online fair play 100% dengan high rewards yang terbukti bayar situs game online kami merupakan andalannya

      Missouri:

      (note they mention Jim Les!!)

And finally, one disgraced coach fires back at the player who outed him.

He's a victim of the "winning is all that matters" crowd.
They probably want Larry Eustachy back.

Jeremy Fears has made it official. He is reversing his verbal committment to Iowa State and is reopening his recruitment.

At one time he was interested in Bradley (as squeaky refers to in the first post), and attended a Bradley game after being released by Ohio University.
Fears has big time talent, but I just don't know if Jim Les or most coaches would want to put up with his attitude. Obviously Greg McDermott chooses not to.
