I am not trying to get a debate or argument started old things vs. new things...
just trying to throw out some fan-thoughts - FWIW -- hopefully anything that would boost BU basketball awareness and fan interest would sound good to the "marketers"...
I know about the golf outing but from what I saw and heard it was fairly sparse - and is a fundraiser that appeals to folks who are already involved and season ticket holders....
and didn't draw in too many new fans, which is what we are GOING to need.....

wonder if anyone knows why we have NOT heard any mention of this game from our end, even though we heard of it
through several channels well over a week ago....and Robert Morris confirmed this game with their releases on June 12?

          Interesting....
Can anyone tell us when was the last time we scheduled a game against a Division III school that wasn't an exhibition or part of a tournament?

I suspect this game would be a candidate for the Renaissance Coliseum.

            2014-15 Schedule - thus far
-two exhibitions likely - at least one at Ren-Col - ? West Virginia Wesleyan, Upper Iowa?
            -November 14 - UT-Arlington - part of a 2-for1 deal
-November 19 Robert Morris at Bradley 7PM - this one or the UT-A game likely at Ren-Col
-a couple other non-conference games, at least one & likely two will be at Ren-Col - not known if the others will be home or road
-Late November - poss. host Texas A&M-CC and poss. meet Texas A&M, TCU, or North Texas in 4-game Corpus Christi Challenge
-December 2 - Central Michigan at Bradley - final game in a 2-for-1
            -December 6 @ Memphis
            -Dec. 9 @ Kansas State
-Dec. 18 Bradley hosts Eureka College (DIII) - gotta figure this will be one of the Ren-Col games
-Dec. 21 vs. UC-Irvine in Las Vegas - game time set for 1:30pm (Pacific) and 3:30pm Central
-Dec. 22 vs. Arkansas-Little Rock or UW-Green Bay - game time will be 11:30pm Pacific/1:30pm Central if 3rd place game & 1:30pm Pacific/3:30pm Central if Championship
-Dec. 28 (Sunday) UIC at BU - this date not confirmed by BU but on the UIC scheudle, time TBA - last game before conference games start.
            -18-game home-and-home MVC league schedule
-March 5-9, 2015 Missouri Valley Tournament in St. Louis

I guess I will prefer not to comment on this one...
PEORIA, Ill. - The Bradley men's basketball team will take one final test before heading to Las Vegas for the the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic when the Braves host nearby Eureka College Dec. 18.

Their AD is a Wooster guy - so I am guessing he has a connection to Geno and they got this game the same way Wooster got a game against us back in 2011, but that was an early season exhibition.

I have already read & heard some comments that this is better than a weak DI opponent...
sorry...whoever says that is totally clueless...it is not better - if it were we'd be doing it all the time and so would other D-I's -
but most will only play a D-II or especially a NON-SCHOLARSHIP D-III team as an exhibition or as a desperate, late act
to fill a date that helps complete a scheduling problem.
It hurts you many, many ways - attendance, integrity, fan support, reputation, as well as consideration in the post season regardless of what they say..

Non D1 was Nov. 15, 2006 vs. SIU Edwardsville. The Cougars were a DII member of the GLVC in 2006. We played them again Dec. 23, 2008 during their DI provisional period.

I don't believe we have ever scheduled a DIII (excluding exhib.) in our regular home arena for a regular season game - all the way back to when they were not called DI & DII...

Here's a quick look at the most recent non-D1 games

                    12/10/2010 - Texas A&M-Kingsville (D2) | W | 66-55 | Basketball Hall of Fame
                    12/23/2008 - SIUE (D1 provisional) | W | 67-61
                    11/15/2006 - SIUE (D2) | W | 74-58
                    11/25/2003 - vs Lubbock Christian (NAIA) | L | 81-89 | Las Vegas Tournament
                    12/7/2002 - Arkansas-Monticello (D2) | W | 107-70
                    11/22/2000 - Alaska Fairbanks (D2) | W | 81-50
                    12/6/1997 - Oakland (D1 provisional) | W | 76-35
                    12/1/1993 - Illinois Wesleyan (D3) | W | 81-63 | Robertson Fieldhouse

In the first dozen years at Carver Arena, there are a couple of other non-D1's played by both Stan Albeck and Dick Versace. Likely as an example that scheduling has always been a difficult process, we played a large number of non D1 games during the Robertson Fieldhouse years, including back-to-back games vs Rollins and Quincy during the 1979-80 MVC championship season.

                      I know - those are mostly DII's -
the Lubbock game was not scheduled - we got stuck with them in a tourney
and the IWU game was a special commemorative, one-last-time-game at the old Fieldhouse...
Rollins & Quincy are DII as well.....

BTW ... a little trivia...............anyone recall the interesting BRADLEY connection to that 1979-80 Rollins team?
If you can't, then I am sure this lineup card will help

the two reasons for scheduling Eureka are stated in the interview this morning...
"The game will count toward Bradley??™s final 2014-15 won-loss record, but will not be factored into the
Braves??™ Ratings Percentage Index (RPI) ranking that is used in Missouri Valley Conference tie-breaking procedures.
A contest vs. a lower-ranked Division I team .. would adversely affect the Braves??™ RPI number"

"Eureka commands a fraction of the financial guarantee Bradley must pay a visiting opponent."

This is a joke, right Bobby?
I know scheduling is hard, we've heard that excuse a thousand times. But why are we locking in a game in June against one of the worst teams in Division 3? Division 3 is non-scholarship, so for those who don't know, it probably won't be as much challenge as playing against a bunch of D1 walkons.
Couldn't we have at least scheduled a good D3? Eureka was 5-20 last year! Wouldn't just about any D2 or D3 been happy to play at Bradley for a negligible fee? Was ICC busy that night?
I though there was no way Bradley could put together another home schedule as bad as these last 2 years, but it looks like they've succeeded. I guess we can look forward to more home games with record low attendance.
