  • Bradley's 2014-15 Schedule

Dave Reynolds' column today clarifies a little on next year's scheudle

The only game that's fully known with the date is the Kansas State game
on December 9, 2014, discussed in this thread - LINK
Geno Ford confirms what we kinda suspected - that this is not a home-and-home but a one-time "guarantee game" ("This was the only way we could get 'em. These are big money games")

Then Dave Reynolds confirms that we will host Central Michigan as the final game in a 3-game agreement, as we discussed HERE

He also mentions a home game vs. UIC as the return of the Bracket-Buster, but when BracketBuster dissolved, the many of the contracts for return games were nullified.
Plus we played a Horizon team (at UWM) last year as a substitute for that game and perhaps something's in the works for a return on that game with UWM coming here.

Then we have games in two in-season tournaments.

The Thanksgiving tournament is four games - two played in Peoria - likely weaker opponents - then two in Corpus Christi, TX the weekend of Nov. 28-29. None of the opponents are known yet with certainty but
Geno Ford mentioned in an interview he believed we might face at least one of Texas AM, TCU, or North Texas....but elsewhere it has been said it is Texas A&M-Corpus Christi[/B]. One comment elsewhere on a message board
also said Saint Louis is in this tourney but that cannot be confirmed.

The Christmas Tourney will be in Las Vegas (South Point Hotel Casino) and we open against UC-Irvine on December 21. Then on Dec. 22 we play Arkansas-Little Rock or UW-Green Bay.

Plus there are "four games left to schedule" as well.

Then of course we will have the 18-game MVC schedule plus tourney in St. Louis.

2014-15 Schedule - Link to BU site
-two exhibitions likely - at least one at Ren-Col - ? West Virginia Wesleyan, Upper Iowa?
-CMU at BU - date unknown
    -UIC at BU date unknown
-four other non-conference games, at least one & likely two will be at Ren-Col - not known if the others will be home or road
-Late November - poss. host Texas A&M-CC and poss. meet Texas A&M, TCU, or North Texas in 4-game Corpus Christi Challenge
    -Dec. 9 @ Kansas State
-Dec. 21 vs. UC-Irvine in Las Vegas
-Dec. 22 vs. Arkansas-Little Rock or UW-Green Bay
    -18-game home-and-home MVC league schedule
-March 5-9, 2015 Missouri Valley Tournament in St. Louis

Sorry if this is a bit repetitive, but here is what we know about the 9 games already locked in for 2014-15, and a little about the opponents-

The only game confirmed and scheduled is Dec. 9 at Kansas State. They finished 20-12 overall, and 10-8 and in 5th place in the Big 12 last season.
Bradley will play home games against Central Michigan (3rd game of a 3-game series) and UIC (return for the last BracketBuster game at UIC on Feb. 23, 2013)
Then there will be 4 games played in the Corpus Christi Holiday Tournament- 2 games on Bradley's home court, then 2 games in Corpus Christi over the Thanksgiving weekend. The opponents have not been named yet, but there are rumors the tournament will include a couple Texas teams- possibly one of these 2- Texas Tech, or TCU, and maybe St. Louis University. One of the 4 "road teams" is rumored to be Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The official announcement of the teams and matchups will come in late June.

The other tournament is the Sunday and Monday before Christmas (Dec. 21 & 22) at the South Point Hotel Casino (where Bradley played Portland & Pacific last Dec. 20-21). Bradley will play 2 games in this event. Bradley will play UC-Irvine in the first game, then play either Arkansas Little-Rock or Wisconsin-Green Bay in the 2nd game. UC-Irvine features a roster that may be among the tallest in the country. They have two 6'10" kids, a 7'0" kid, a 7'2" kid, and a 7'6" kid, the tallest D1 player, Mamadou Ndiaye. Plus they have several 6'7-6'8" kids.
    UC-Irvine roster- http://www.ucirvinesports.com/sports...2013-14/roster
UC-Irvine won the Big West Conference last year and they return almost everyone (they had just 1 senior on the roster) from their 2013-14 team that finished 23-12, and 13-3 in the Big West.
Arkansas-Little Rock finished 15-17 last year, and 9-9 in the Sun Belt (tied for 5th). They lost they top scorer to graduation.
Green Bay won the Horizon league last year with a record of 24-7, 14-2 in conference. They return their top player, Keifer Sykes, who averaged over 20 ppg. They lost their top big man, 7'1" Alec Brown, who was All Conference 3 years in a row, and may be drafted in the upcoming NBA draft.

Bradley has 4 more games yet to be scheduled.

I have heard rumors that one of the home games not yet named might be Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

So with 4 games yet to be scheduled, the non-conference opponents include:
    Kansas State (away)
    UIC (home)?
    Central Michigan (home)
4 games in Corpus Christi tournament- 2 home and 2 in Corpus Christi
2 games in Las Vegas- UC-Irvine and either Arkansas-Little Rock or Green Bay

Milwaukee was a replacement for our return BracketBusters game against Loyola, since the Ramblers became a league member. UIC still owes the return game from the BracketBusters game there two years ago and that contract is still active.

If you go to this link and look at the Corpus Christi challenge, it says that SLU is going to be there as well. It also says it got the information from the PJS message board.

I know - that was my point - they are basing the presence of SLU in that tourney on a comment by a poster on a message board that has not been confirmed by Saint Louis..
We should know for sure soon...everything else we have up here is backed up by links or confirmed as being on the schedule....so the rest could be speculation.
Are the Bills not scheduled to play in a early season tourney next year?

Road trip to Vegas again this year. This will be the fourth time in Vegas to watch Bradley. If Bradley plays with effort in both games, it will be worth the trip regardless of the outcome. I still recall the first game in Vegas last year.

We may have to include the Texas tournament this year.

I know Dave R already provided some information about the return to Las Vegas, but here is some additional information about the 2014 South Point Holiday Hoops Classic Dec. 21-22, where the Braves will face defending Big West Conference regular-season champion UC Irvine and either defending Horizon League regular-season champ Green Bay or Arkansas-Little Rock: http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArt...DB_OEM_ID=3400

The article includes a link to the South Point Arena box office, though the tournament tickets are not yet on sale. I'll send out an update when ticket prices and sales dates have been determined.

I don't know if South Point will do it again this year or not. Last year we purchased tournament tickets at the South Point Casino. We probably bought them 2 or 3 days before the first game. South Point was giving a 25% discount to senior citizens. There was no assigned seating.

FWIW a UIC commit just tweeted Donte that they are playing BU.

                  @Tai_GetBUCKETS: @DThomas_01 we play y'all this year bro. 😈

Well maybe not... He then tweeted he read about it in an article after Donte asked if he had his schedule.

Here are the first two home opponents to be announced, both on either end of 2-for-1 agreements - Nov. 14 vs. Texas-Arlington and Dec. 2 against Central Michigan.

PEORIA, Ill. - Bradley Basketball will host two non-conference opponents on either end of 2-for-1 agreements when the Braves welcome Texas-Arlington and Central Michigan to Peoria this winter.

so far not a lot of quality to the HOME opponents - all directional schools...UT-Arlington was RPI 204 last year, CMU was 294, Texas A&M-CC was 240, and UIC was 317

MORE breaking schedule news heard here first...

Robert Morris University will visit Bradley at 7PM on November 19

BTW - Robert Morris-Peoria (not affiliated with the RMU we are playing Nov. 19) starts their basketball program and their coach is ex-Bradley Brave Bobby Ford...
I would like to see them as an exhibition opponent...

For the record, this is the D1 Robert Morris University located in suburban Pittsburgh, and a member of the Northeast Conference. (not the non-D1 Robert Morris University from Peoria or Chicago).

RMU won the regular season Northeast Conference title last year with a record of 21-13 and 14-2 in their conference. Their RPI last season was 125.-

They lost in the championship game of their conference tournament and went to the NIT, where they won at St. John's, then lost at Belmont.
