Yes, Kirk trying to shill for Bradley that this year's schedule is a strong schedule. It is not. Of course, anything looks good after these last 2 seasons with atrocious scheduling (Non-Conference SOS's of 339 and 302). But outside of Kansas State and Memphis, there is not a single team on the schedule close to being inside the Top 100 RPI teams, let alone the Top 50 that Kirk says the NCAA Tournament committee looks for on a team's resume'.
There is still the possibility for several 250-300+ RPI games including UIC (317 last year), Central Michigan (294 last year), plus the 2 home games in the Corpus Christi Tournament that are likely to be D1 bottom dwellers.
I also find this statement by our AD both self-contradictory and misguided. I do not know a single Bradley fan who wants to see a "winning program" achieved by scheduling numerous cupcakes and Division 3 opponents. And just how that has anything to do with becoming a "championship program" makes no sense.
I'm very aware of what people are saying about Eureka,' Cross says. 'But I'm also aware of what Eureka does and doesn't do to our RPI.
'We are trying to provide an environment and opportunity our fan base will appreciate. My perception of what the fan base wants is to see a winning, championship basketball program. I hope they trust the decisions being made are 100 percent, laser-focused on that being the goal.'
