he's 2 months behind on workouts, conditioning, learning the Division-I game, and blending with teammates...
we saw how important of a factor that was last year with Stefan Zecevic arriving late - well after everyone else........
Remember - we heard lines like this (and I am quoting from message board posts and columns)
"Zecevic stood out..."
"I heard from a very reliable source that Zecevic just lit it up ..."
"Zecevic is a stat sheet filler..."
“Stefan was the best player on the court,” Ford said. “He was flying around on defense and hitting shots.”
"As a group, I wouldn't trade these guys for any freshman class we've had or any freshman class in the league"
"...have a chance to help from Day 1"
"Stefan has the best motor of anybody on our roster. He's high-activity and a really good on-the-ball defender. He's a good passer and a good open-court player."
...and various other over-the-top comments about how ready he was and how he'd contribute to our depth immediately, could play several positions, and was the fastest developer on the team .
Any time anyone rational noted that he wasn't even one of the top 5 players on his own obscure prep school team, they got shouted down & mocked, yet they were right on.
-then - it probably had something to do with why Zecevic never got any better - in fact he seemed to get worse from when he first arrived -- his best two outings all year were the Red-White and the games in the Bahamas against the weakest opponent. It was all downhill from there and he never helped our depth at all.
We went from have "quality depth at every position" and "more depth than we have had in many years" to having zero depth & having to play our only D-I caliber players 40 minutes per game frequently.
