  • Power conference schools beginning to step on the "little guys"

    gotta read this...

the University President of Univ. of Washington - not exactly UCLA, Alabama, or USC when it comes to NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS....

arrogantly says this to the "smaller schools"....he doesn't want to associate with them, not be governed by any organization that has them in it...
I understand the greed involved and why he feels this way - and we need to be prepared because the money-rich schools are going to try to stomp out any success anywhere else...
we need to right the ship here at Bradley and not hit this new era floundering so badly with extremely poor leadership and scary finances...

"If you’ve got a $6 million athletic budget, you shouldn’t be worrying about what I do,”
Young told Bud Withers of the Seattle Times. “You’re never going to compete with us.
We don’t recruit the same players. We don’t even play on the same field. It just doesn’t matter.”

He even details plans to cherry pick any player they want (obviously by offering them $$) off the rosters of any smaller school any time they want...
"..the teams playing in the Power 5 conferences, might as well be playing in an entirely different division.
The difference between the University of Texas and Texas State or the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee are massive."

BTW - just a short list of the "smaller schools" that have easily beaten Washington in the past couple years...

UC-Irvine, BC, SDSU, Albany, Nevada (a couple times), Saint Louis, South Dakota State, Portland, Valparaiso....I can see why they are tired of getting embarrassed by those "smaller schools".

looks like their plan to pay athletes is already running afoul of the political correctness police....and will likely violate Title IX
