It is not a big deal financially for WIU. There have been several local high school players, primarily from Morton that played tennis at WIU. The football program causes the imbalance in that for every football scholarship, a women's sport scholarship must be funded. It is a shame that many DIV I programs have cut men's tennis programs.

I know, at least they are not greatly insulting their fan base and donors by cancelling men's tennis immediately after one of their tennis greats gives $10 million..
sadly some of Markin's tremendous gift got wasted covering certain people's lavish spending on road trips in 5-star hotels

        interesting news report...
Evansville is gonna ADD a sport...but it will be men's & women's track (in 201 and initially it'll just be the cross country athletes...
so at first they expect to build their cross country program doing this

by adding all the extra scholarships & initially only use them on cross country - it will obviously help them get lots better & deeper - then they would potentially add other track athletes as well
They do not plan to build a track facility (kind of a dead giveaway this is mostly to fortify their cross country programs)
..and will use ".. enough scholarships to field a ???nationally competitive??? cross country team and build the track team with specialists to surround that core of distance runners"...... "in 3 to 4 years"
