Sportswriter who covers the University of Michigan tweets about Max Bielfeldt-
Max Bielfeldt says he's still exploring options for fifth year of eligibility. Michigan still an option.

Interesting article about Michigan coach John Beilein- All 13 of his scholarships are committed (Max Beilfeldt is not one of them), and he is continuing to recruit.
At this stage of the recruiting period, Michigan coach John Beilein seems to be fishing without any bait.
Beilein said that he hasn't ruled out having Bielfeldt return next season, but there are "a lot of factors" that are in play. It's unclear how that would happen, though, as Beilein admitted he hadn't considered having Bielfeldt as a walk-on.

Max Bielfeldt was on Jim Mattson's sports talk show on WZPN 96.5 FM at 3:00 PM. He confirmed that he has talked to Brian Wardle and likes the idea of possibly returning to his hometown to play his final year. He also said he has heard from other MVC and Big East schools. But he said he still hasn't made his final decision, and that there is still a chance he'll return to Michigan if Coach Beilein wants him back. Apparently, that still has not been resolved. He said he will wait until after this semester, and that the last day of classes next Tuesday, April 21, followed by final exams. Then he'll make his final decision after that, "in the next couple weeks".
Jim Mattson asked Max what graduate degree he might pursue if he stayed at Michigan, and he said "business management program" or an advanced "ag program/econ".

This is what Max's decision is contingent on-
On one hand, entering the 2015 NBA draft could be financially beneficial for Michigan's Caris LeVert. On the other, it could be an enormous risk for the junior, who, at the top end, is projected as a late first-rounder in the upcoming draft...

one note...
I have seen some comments that Max "hasn't been released" or "hasn't asked for his release" .. but this is silly....
because it's already been made known widely he is not currently being offered a scholarship for his 5th year...so he does not need a release...
plus - if he transfers - he could transfer as a grad student so he has even a 2nd reason he would not need a release.
Max just wants to wait & see what all his options are....but the very fact that even as the most productive big man they had last year - and likely he'd again be the most productive big man this year - yet he's considering transferring speaks volumes....
One other thing - I have seen many comments such as - "Max' family has money so they could pay his way if he didn't get a scholarship"
...again - I think this statement is silly since if the money thing were what drives Max' choices, then his family would send him to Harvard, Yale, or Oxford...
but he wants to play basketball at the highest level - and he doesn't want to walk on some place with walk-ons historically never getting playing time.
Seriously - how can people not see that he could have walked on at Illinois where his family has already donated hundreds of thousands of dollars...
yet he chose Michigan -- purely because he was given a scholarship - which is a pledge by the coach that he wants you....(or seems to intend to want you).
Nope - everything so far points to Max going where he believes he might have a chance to excel and play basketball at the highest level...
I think it comes down to Michigan, Bradley, Illinois, or remotely some other mid-to-high-major place if he gets a good offer - but not some low-major ..

Michigan's Caris LeVert - who was projected as a possible first round draft pick - has decided to stay at Michigan and NOT commit to the NBA Draft..
this means there will definitely NOT be any available scholarships for Max...so he'd have to walk on if he wants to stay at Michigan...
word was that he was only waiting to see if a scholarship would be available...thus he might make his decision soon and he might transfer elsewhere that offers a scholarship
