either way - Max has to realize he is the fall back option only and not really wanted as a 1st line player even tho his stats make the other post guys look like juco players

Comment from the Brian Wardle press conference by Dave Reynolds-

"Braves briefs: Gary and Carlotta Bielfeldt, grandparents of former Notre Dame star Max Bielfeldt,
who is graduating this spring from Michigan with one year of eligibility remaining, were
at the ceremony. They said Max definitely wanted to continue playing and both agreed that
Bradley could be a good fit for the 6-foot-8 power forward. Bielfeldt, who averaged 5.1 points
and 3.6 rebounds for the Wolverines last season, would be able to play immediately wherever he lands."

Saw that. Lets hope this one plays out!

As nice as it would be to have Max, if it came down to Max for 1 year or Torres for 4, I'd take Torres.

Do you think Torres is a difference maker?
His only offers, besides Green Bay, were Bradley, NIU, Chicago State, UIC, and SIUE. The fact that Geno wanted him, makes me really wonder, since he has misjudged on almost every kid he recruited.

I have never seen him play, but we are already overstocked with marginal D1 big men. I'd rather have someone who can make a difference.

Here is a video- he is a big kid (6'8", 250 pounds) who appears to have limited offensive skills like most of our big men-

What are the chances Green Bay would release Torres? And if they did, would they exclude him going to Bradley?

Great questions regarding the potential for his release. Working under the assumption that they would, I'd like for Coach Wardle to be able to bring in a player or 2 that he recruited.

I agree we are overstocked with marginal D1 big men . Now the good news ,He only missed one layup in the video and that is a huge improvement over our bigs.

And how do you know that, did you edit it.

By edited, I meant that it was not a continuous game video. Like all "highlight" videos on YouTube, someone edits video from games, and picks only the shots that go in.
You aren't suggesting that the video was not edited?

Not at all. All I said was it only showed him missing one.

                          Here's the irony...

in 2009, Louisville offered BOTH Wayne Blackshear and Mike Shaw at the same time - (both were "TOP 50")
some thought that Louisville wanted a "package deal" (and both Shaw & Blackshear said they were marketing themselves as a "package" - LINK) but in the end Louisville was happy to get at least one of them - as Shaw chose Illinois.

Blackshear leads them to the Elite Eight - Shaw never developed...

This is something I have said for a long time and that is the fact some kids want to improve and work really hard and some rely on their HS laurels. This was a perfect example of two players going in different directions. Can MS improve? That is a question that we will know more come next year. Sometimes it is the coaching staff that doesn't get the best out of a player and sometimes it is a case where the player just doesn't put forth the effort needed to improve.
So now we have a new coach and now we will see can this staff develop MS (and the other seniors) into better players which will make the team better.
Can it happen? YES! Will it happen? We will know come next season.

actually for the first couple years Blackshear was at Louisville he showed great flashes of potential but no consistency....
(2 ppg as a freshman and just 7, then 8 ppg as soph & junior)
..there was a little grumbling by Louisville people that Blackshear was NOT a hard worker and was not developing...
or that it was sure taking a long time (4 years) for Blackshear to "reach his potential"...

PLUS - there was a little grumbling reported that Blackshear might be unhappy and lack of playing time and wanting to leave..

but now that Blackshear is a senior he is a very solid player and he had some good post-season games.

That's my exact point. He stuck it out and he worked at getting better. Was that completely on his own? I really doubt it. I am sure it was a combination of coaches that got him to learn to play to his strengths and himself willing to learn, and work hard, to get to that point.
Can Mike Shaw, or any of our other players get to that point? Again we will find out how much this coaching staff can teach starting today and how much the players will bye into it and do the work necessary to improve.
