  • NBA Draft success

Right now almost everyone has the following six guys at the top of this year's Draft...
Joel Embiid, Jabari Parker, Andrew Wiggins, Julius Randle, Donte Exum, Noah Vonleh....
...all are quality players and whoever drafts them are hoping for and expecting success.

BUT - here's a list of the TOP SIX NBA draft picks each of the last several years:

2013 - Anthony Bennett, Victor Oladipo, Otto Porter, Cody Zeller, Alex Len, Nerlens Noel
2012 - Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, Dion Waiters, Thomas Robertson, Damian Lillard
2011 - Kyrie Irving, Derrick Williams, Enes Kanter, Traistan Thompson, Jonas Valanciunas, Jan Vesely
2010 - John Wall, Evan Turner, Derrick Favors, Wesley Johnson, DeMarcus Cousins, Epke Udou
2009 - Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, Tyreke Evans, Ricky Rubio, Johnny Flynn
2008 - Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, OJ Mayo, Russell Westbrook, Kevin Love, Danilo Gallinari
2007 - Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Al Horford, Mike Conley, Jeff Green, Li Jianlian
2006 - Andrea Bargnani, LaMarcus Aldridge, Adam Morrison, Tyrus Thomas, Shelden Williams, Brandon Roy

You decide.....these are the very top picks, the best of the best - 48 players chosen with selections that teams die for or trade away the future for....
A whole lot of these picks were or are flops - a few not even in the NBA any more...some the jury still out and some are true stars. But the "batting average" is still surprisingly low...

I know it's only been a year...but the Bennett over Oladipo pick...yikes. He showed virtually nothing with decent playing time, and Oladipo put up some all-star worthy stats on many nights. I know Cleveland has Waiters/Irving, but stockpile now, worry later.

The Bucks worked out Northwestern's & ex-BU recruit Drew Crawford yesterday but in the pictures are a few people that BU fans might recognize....

Assistants Nick Van Exel (ex-Laker) & Scott Williams (ex-Bulls player from the Championship years), and ex-ISU head coach Bob Bender

yeah - first you have to feel sorry for Portland wasting their first pick in 2007 by taking Greg Oden instead of taking Kevin Durant...

Not that Greg Oden should be broke - since as a #1 pick he's already earned over $24 million in the NBA, although I suspect a lot of that's long gone...

Anyway - now sadly....he enters yet a new phase of his life - beating up his girlfriend...
