There have been a lot of stories lately on schools having troubles with naming rights....
-There is the local story of the sudden evaporation of the $3 million "Puterbaugh" naming rights gift that was withdrawn and the story never explained publicly..
-Other schools - Kent State, FAU, Missouri, UW-M and other schools have had big naming rights gifts for their arenas and stadiums suddenly yanked.
wonder what's going on - do all these big contributors feel their money isn't well spent on this?
I have heard rumors, but no public explanation was ever offered and oddly the local media never thought it was a story to find out why the Renaissance Coliseum naming rights gift was withdrawn - $3 mil down the drain - oddly an amount that's almost half the financial drain the university is suffering from in the Athletic Department right now.
-This article tell how Boise State (Learfield is doing the marketing) - one of the most distinctive football fields (blue) has had serious trouble attracting anyone for naming rights since 1997!
