And you don't think it is just a little ridiculous to blame our failures on what players the previous coach left behind when we are now into year 4? When will the excuses ever end?

I think it's ridiculous that most every thread here(basketball or otherwise) at year 4 still ends being about Jim Les

Didn't seem to panic to me...least he had a track record

What don't you understand? How many times do I have to say Geno has missed on quite a few players but what he was left up with were not talented enough to make a climb up the ladder. Hence , reason he got fired along with several others. What don't you get about NEVER playing a meaningful game in Feb. under JL or NEVER finishing above 4th in the Valley. Now before you tell us for the thousandth time about how bad it's been with Geno, I agree with you. We just have a different opinion on how we got there and that probably will not change.

I get all that. He's gone. Why are people still trying to blame him for the failures these last 3 years?

why were we not able even with a huge salary offer - to land any of our first dozen or so choices?

... why do you post on a message board where every post ends up talking about other posters who haven't posted there for five years?

Again it's pretty simple. When people get fired it's usually because they have not recruited enough quality players to be competitive. Not playing any meaningful games in Feb or competing for league titles usually happens when you don't bring in players who can play at that level. So along with who JL left him and the misses Geno has brought in makes for a pretty crummy last 3 years. Jim's gone ,the last 3 years are over lets hope this years class can get this mess turned around. If not , well Geno may have to look for work in 2 years. Hope not, I really like Geno just don't like his results so far.

2001 was the last time Bradley was above .500 14 games into the MVC season. As wily points out, it's been 13 years since we played a meaningful conference game in February. Some want to talk about how terrible the last 3 years have been, and I agree totally with that, but the 10 years before that weren't all that great either, with the exception of a few weeks in the spring of 2006. Hopefully the next 13 years see us playing more meaningful games in February than the last 13 have.

If you're going to give credit to Jim Les is players for the successes of the past three years you also need to give them the blame for the failures.

Folks, this has been about the best 30 days for Bradley basketball in some time. A top 100 recruit turned down many BCS offers to come to Bradley. We have some quality guards coming in and a quality big as well. Jim was a great Bradley player and a great guy. He is responsible for one of the great times in recent Bradley history with the NCAA run. He never was higher than 4th in the MVC and due to that was let go. I wish him well and thank him for all he did. Geno is here now and I support him 100%. I dont think he has been successful on the court yet but hold out hope that things are turning around. He is responsible for bradley basketball and its results from the day he started to get paid by Bradley not Jim. The two have nothing to do with each other, you dont have to trash one to support the other.

We as a fan base need to grasp the success of the last couple of months recruiting and support the Coaching staff and team at a high level. Not because we like Geno more than Jim or Jim more than Geno but because we love Bradley basketball. We have a window of opportunity here to see Bradley basketball at the level we want it to be and we need to jump on board. When the time comes to judge Geno and decide wether he was successful or not is a couple of years away from now and we will all have our chance to voice our opinions.

Let the past go and look to the future with the kids we have coming in like Josh, Warren, Jermaine, Kendahl, Donte and Tramigue. You cant change history but you can impact the future with your support of the program.

but someone saw fit to fire that coach shortly thereafter anyway - so what's the use of any fan having an opinion on this subject...

anyway - such a comment seems, again, to be glossing completely over any and all successes in the past 13 years - the record fundraising & revenue, the record attendances & sellouts, the wins & post-season success that was unique in the past 5 decades....
You may wanna go back to 2001 but then you might be all alone cuz everyone seemed to hate that "style of play" - but I'd be very happy just to go back to the successes we were having in '06 & '07.

I'd be happy to get back there also and a big thanks to Chuck Buesher. If my memory serves me correct things got a lot better when he came on board and the ship sank when he retired.
