Updated stats including games of Wed. 12/20--
Bradley is still leading in 3-point shooting percentage by a wide margin.
One interesting note--
Despite the success of the MVC, the elite players of the league are not performing up to expectations.
5 of the 6 players picked for the preseason All-MVC team are putting up lower numbers than they did last year.
Nate Funk was the MVC Preseason Player of the Year. Yet he is scoring just 14.0 ppg, and his shooting percentage is way off. He was a 47% career shooter coming into the season, but is shooting just 37.4% from the field, and an awful 29.3% from 3-point range. He shot 46.9% from 3-point last year. He has made only 3 of his last 26 3-point attempts.
Scoring averages for SIU's Jamal Tatum, MSU's Blake Ahearn and UNI's Grant Stout are down slightly, although Ahearn is leading the Valley in 3-point shooting (58.6 percent).
SIU's Tony Young's scoring average is down from 11.6 ppg to 9.2 ppg.
Creighton's Anthony Tolliver is the only one putting up better numbers than he did a year ago. Tolliver's scoring (14.3 ppg) and rebounding (7.4 rpg) averages are up slightly from last season, when he averaged 13.4 ppg and 6.7 rpg.
So with all these stars having off-years in their senior seasons, just who will deserve to be All-MVC?
