  • Where would you rate Wichita if . . .

Let's say Kentucky wins the national championship by defeating Florida. Where would you rate Wichita State in the final poll? The Shockers were 35-0 and had a final shot to win their game with Kentucky. Unfortunately, it was in the second round. (OK, the third round officially, but I digress.)

I think an argument could be made for third, behind Kentucky and Florida. I'm worried the early exit will hurt, but should it? WSU played them as well as anyone. And if Kentucky does win, that makes two seasons in a row that Wichita would have lost to the eventual national champions.

Still, all the publicity for the longer lasting tournament teams might drop them.

I say WSU would deserve third. What say you?

I thought before the tournament any one of 10 teams could win it...

Michigan,Arizona,WSU,Florida,MSU,Louisville,Virgin ia,Kansas, Syracuse, and few others are all on the same level IMO.

The final poll seems to always have the Final Four ranked 1-4 but I see what you are saying - that maybe the Shox actually are the 2nd best team but lost to the eventual winners....

Remember, that back in 1986, Bradley lost to the eventual winner Louisville and played them tougher than anyone else in the entire tournament did -
sadly Bradley was not given the #2 ranking spot in the Final poll
