Illinois State just got a commitment from juco DeVaughn Purcell of Eastern Oklahoma State, who was also pursued by Bradley. This is the kid Dan Muller seemed to be targeting as a possible replacement for Zach Lofton-

Indiana State just got a commitment from Grant Prusator, a guard from Highland CC (Illinois).

Purcell is a juco sophomore but Prusator is just a freshman at Highland and is the nephew of ex-Bradley big man Tom Prusator
        - he is a qualifier and can come and play this fall at InSU and have three years left.
..word is that he is taking the roster spot and scholarship of Demetrius Moore, a junior juco transfer who is reportedly leaving and not returning.

Also little used Drake forward, 6-9 Robert Puleikis is leaving and transferring - apparently a little house cleaning as he was a scholarship player
...and little used 6-6 sophomore guard at Missouri State, Michael Simpson will likewise transfer

one other transfer I find odd - Joey Miller of UIC - still hasn't landed anywhere...
when he left EIU, several schools courted him as he seemed to be a pretty good player.
But he chose UIC and was granted immediate eligibility - and has gotten little playing time - but now he's gone...

One more MVC commit today- Loyola gets a commitment from Earl Peterson of Coffeyville CC in Kansas. Peterson is a 6'3" shooting guard, originally from Raytown, Missouri, who averaged 16.6 ppg and shot 34.6% from three. He averaged 12.6 ppg and shot 40.1% from three as a freshman.

Sounds like they will have a very strong three guard grouping.

Loyola does return every one of their players that played significant minutes, except backup center Cody Johnson just left the team and intends to transfer. He only played 8 minutes a game and averaged 2.7 ppg, but I suspect Loyola Head Coach Porter Moser is still looking to add another big player. Their 3 recruits for 2014 (Ben Richardson, Donte Ingram, and Jay Knuth) are all wing type guards and SF's.
The addition of this juco recruit just adds more guard depth. They do have a couple redshirt kids, including a 6-10 kid who will play next year, so I think Loyola may be able to make a move up in the MVC.

As much as a weak Loyola might help bradley avoid Thursday night, I hope they are much stronger next year. It will help the valley to have creightons replacement be at least average.

Idk what their head coach envisions for them, but their personelle suggest they can be a very formidable small ball team.

Jay Knuth had verballed to Loyola but last fall he had a drug arrest and Loyola was said to have withdrawn their offer and Knuth ended up not signing when the LOI signing period came & went.
I suspect Loyola's offer then had some contingencies - and it appears Knuth straightened his act out and has done fine ever since.

Knuth was suspended for the first four games of his senior season (maybe a little light compared to other athletic codes) then was reinstated.
He did end up having a fine senior season at his Iowa high school and he averaged 19 pts/7 rebs and was named All State

Then - after his season ended - he appeared before the judge who then dismissed the charges because Knuth had satisfied provisions.

In February, an interview with Knuth said he was still "committed to Loyola" and planning to be there - but because he is not signed - there can and will be no word nor confirmation from Loyola - but I expect to see him at Loyola.

Just what we need is more good three-point shooters at Indiana State.

you do realize we (INS) were dead last in 3 point shooting percentage in MVC games this year don't you? somewhere around 30% or so

No, I didn't. Every time I had seen them play everyone mentioned three-point shooting. Maybe I didn't see them enough.

Loyola just got another commitment from Eric Peterson's juco teammate at Coffeyville CC. 6'7" forward Montel James committed this morning to Porter Moser and the Loyola Ramblers. James averaged 13.4 ppg and 4.9 rpg, and shot 55% from the field this past season at Coffeyville.
