  • State Tournament Recruiting

The State Tournament is in Peoria....It is on Bradleys home court...It is loaded with Divn. 1 talent...and yet, we can't seem to create any interest in Bradley from any of these talented players. Are our coaches at the games?
We have a tremendous advantage and yet we seem to get absolutely nothing out of the tournament. WHY???

Western Ill and isu ran commercials both weekends of the tourney....did Bradley ever run one to promote the school?

I believe that what happens with the last two rides will be a make or break for Geno. He has two years left on his contract and something has to change and fast. If this class doesn't work out he will not be around in three years. If these last two rides just go to average players he is in trouble. I am pulling for him but its now or never! The next month will tell.

Yes, I can tell you for a fact Geno and Chin were at the Morgan Park game Fri. afternoon. Saw them and talked to both of them. Not sure what having the tourney in Peoria has anything to do with getting kids to BU. Just because they're playing on our court doesn't obligate them to attend BU. We do allow any College recruiters to attend any session and be seen by the kids they are recruiting. I guess what I'm saying you may think having the Tourney on our floor should give us an advantage. Just not sure it works that way.

Guys, I'm not sure the university is committed to having a winning basketball team at this stage. Perhaps it's overrated anyway.
          Compete. Defend. Rebound. Win.

You spend 10's of millions of dollars on basketball facilities and pay your head Coach $800K a year and we may not be committed to winning? Bradley mens basketball pays for all other sports at Bradley, they had better be committed to winning.

we might yet have a chance at one recruit we previously missed on...
Michael Tucker will be at Hutchinson JC this fall and will now be a 2105 recruit - I sure hope we stay on him especially if he has a great recovery from his knee injury

I could be wrong T but I think that ship has sailed unless something happens that we're not expecting. We can hope can't we. Tucker and Cunningham and Geno would be a pretty good start to respectability.

If you do a review of the recruits Geno has brought in - then you have to at least note that the only ones Geno spotted and landed who were TALENTED and/or have contributed are almost ALL the fall signees....
Tyshon, Tucker (even tho we didn't get him, but he was very talented and Geno spotted him when he was yet under the radar), Tramique...and even to a degree KB...

All our spring recruits to this point (DS, Jalen, Shayok, Devon, Nate Wells, Anthony Fields, Omari, Shaw, Swopshire, Blake, AB, XT....)
all are marginal at best - and even if they did help some - it was only because - by GF's own admission - he had them pegged wrong and they turned out to help us in ways that they weren't even recruited for!
...the pickings just are not strong nor deep in the spring...
So we can hope - but we'd better get going on fall 2015 guys right now....

I guess I have more hope for XT than you. I think he can be a big contributor if he can learn to stay on the floor. As an example, Pickett managed to cut his fouling down a lot this year.

I haven't seen Shaw play and can't offer an opinion. I know he didn't contribute much at Illinois. If he doesn't add much to the team next year, it will probably be a long year.

LTF - I am not against going after the best each spring has to offer - I just don't like the idea of doing it every season as a habit - running out the weakest on our roster after just a year or two then bringing in someone just because we have to use the open ride.
We have to get more fall guys and build on them....everyone else in our league who is successful does it..
Virtually none of the Wichita, InSU, UNI guys are late spring additions...

Kids like Jalen might have matured in a couple more years and become far better than what we got in the swap.

More of a quickfix rather than build a program

Vonleh is off to the NBA so I'm sure Crean will be all over Cunningham now more than ever.

Cunningham is definitely being offered immediate playing time at Big Ten schools with immense following, every game on TV and crowds of 20K -
not to mention the "extras" the BCS schools always seem to find a way to offer....
