More detail on the Jalen Brunson incident...
a couple things are new....reports that photos clearly show the middle finger of both hands - not just one hand as many have claimed...
and that the Brunsons want an apology from the PJ Star for publishing the photo...

Talked to a guy yesterday that these pictures were taken as Brunson was reacting to a call and his arms were going up and then down in reaction to the call. I think if we had seen a video you wouldn't notice anything at all. I wasn't there so I don't know for sure??¦.just going from what I was told??¦sounds like Brunson was framed(no pun intended)

        Lefty,
I was at the game. Now i did not watch every move he made on the court but i did not see him do this. One time toward the end of the game he did make a motion with his arms up like that but it was after a made basket and he was facing his own fans encouraging them to cheer. Based on that I agree with the Brunsons and the Journal Star should apologize. I would like to add that if Bradley wanted to recruit Brunson the Journal Star just pushed him toward Illinois

That's exactly what happened lefty. He was reacting to a call. He made a three and a foul was call before he shot the ball according to the officials. He thought he should have had an opportunity for a 4 point play. I've seen the video and it is inconclusive but the stills tell the truth. Can't believe the parents want an apology from the PJS for running the photo's. I had the Brunson boy at my table and was very impressed by what a fine young man he was. Just proves kids will be kids and I'm sure he'll regret that incident for many years.

Bradleyfan124,please don't spend a lot of time worrying that this photo will cause him to not attend BU. News flash... he's not considering BU and not because of the PJS. Look at the stills and you'll see he wasn't just throwing his arms up at his crowd to encourage them. If the Brunsons deserve an apology from anyone and, I don't believe they do, it would be from the IHSA.If that's another chance to rail the PJS that's a feeble one. Please get the whole story . You can do much better than that.

I disgree Wiley. You can break down split movements of somebody and come to a different conclusion about each still. The intention of the overall movement is what they should go by.: he was disageeing with the call ( although the call was before the shot)

lefty - I have to disagree - lots of people who were there at the game, started tweeting about Brunson flipping off the crowd - and I saw those tweets before any picture appeared anywhere

Here are just a couple tweets from Friday night mentioning before the picture appeared in the paper..but you can do your own search and see plenty..
BTW - the original tweet from the PJS showing the picture has been deleted - is the PJ Star bowing to pressure or worried about a lawsuit?

either way I think life is all about forgiveness and moving on...
Even if the kid did something offensive and unsportsmanlike - the IHSA ruled (the head of IHSA, Marty Hickman, wanted a suspension from the 3rd place game,
but the board that officially hands down the discipline relented and let the kid play - but quite possibly as that article says, it was because Stevenson was planning to boycott
and no-show for the game - which would have beena disaster for IHSA and horrible publicity.
(The article which may not be accessible without a subscription says the Stevenson team was NOT even dressed 5 minutes before the game and was prepared to boycot not just threaten it, when the ruling to allow Brunson to play came)
... and I think we ought to forget and move on - time will tell if he's a bad egg or a good kid.

Oh no Was not railing against the Journal Star. It was just a half joke if Bradley had any inkling of trying to recruit Brunson it was now gone

Brunson impressed me with his talent - he is indeed a very good player.........
but...it will indeed be interesting to see how Brunson does in college when he has to play with four other guys that maybe expect to see the ball once or twice in the game.
It might be an extremely hard transition for Brunson.
                    Note his stats....

Shots attempted Friday night (in his 56-point game): 30 plus multiple other drives & shots that resulted in 23 free throw attempts
Shots attempted by everyone else on his entire team: 23
Assists by Brunson in that same game: 0

I wasn't there and don't have an opinion really...just mentioning what a guy told me who's close to the Journal Star.....there hasn't been any previous reports about Brunson and this kind of behavior before so I guess I give him the benefit of the doubt.......either way I agree about moving on too.....the kid is obviously a player and most any team would be lucky to get him.

I'm not exactly sure what your disagreeing with me about. Look at the stills DC posted on this thread. If those aren't his middle fingers ,one of us needs to get an eye exam and I just had one. He was not encouraging his fans in that still. He had his back to the basket and his fan were over his left shoulder and behind him. I don't think he was flipping off the WY fans. He was mad because the officials disallowed his chance for a 4 point play by not allowing his 3 pointer to count. I can promise you if the officials had seen it a T would have been assessed to the young man. He was between the rings and all 3 officials were behind him therefore it went unnoticed.

I not disagreeing with you. Just saying i saw the act and did not see the middle fingers and did not think anything of it at the time. The still shots are what I dont agree with. You can catch movements in the most awkward situations but in the entire context they mean nothing

I can promise you BF124, BU will not spend much time if any at all trying to convince the Brunson kid to become a Brave. He is a Duke, KY, Mich. ST, Kan. UCLA type recruit not a chance in hell of him becoming a Brave . Wish we could get in on kids like him but it's not gonna happen.

I, unfortunately, have to agree with you. There was a time when the Bradley name was held in high regard. Not anymore. It needs to get built back up

That's really funny . I'll bet you didn't think a certain President didn't have s-x with a certain intern either. I'm pretty amazed. It happened so fast I didn't see it at the time but I don't think the PJS made his middle fingers pop up in the stills for a good story.
