could................and did happen last year - Jalen Crawford was GF's own recruit - was getting 6th man time and even had a chance for more playing time...
but instead decided to go DII and play a ton right away - be the best player on the team, top scorer, tons of playing time for a team that's competing for championships - albeit DII.....instead of sitting behind several other players and burning up whatever eligibility deep on the bench of a team that's at the bottom of the league.
Some of our guys were very close friends with Jalen and see how much happier he is after transferring.....might look appealing to someone else...

we should find a way to get in on the opportunity to get Gabe Levin - his numbers as a freshman were better than anything we've had from a big man in a long time
we were right there....he was HS teammates with Ka'Darryl Bell - the kid would have an awsome chance in the MVC to put up the kind of numbers Carmichael or Tuttle did...

Gabe Levin's story is a remarkable one...too bad we missed on this kid, I would have love to watch him play..

Two years ago when he was a senior teammate of Ka'Darryl Bell - he wanted to play Division I basketball but had no decent offers. Nobody thought he was D-I material!
Bradley was even looking at him but chose to pass.

Then after a year at prep school where he demonstrated some decent D-I skills, he got some interest but not a lot.

But now after getting a chance to show what he can do he has the big schools - Marquette, Notre Dame... - after him. Good for him, he's proven a lot of people wrong.

former Top 150 rated Nolan Berry transfers from Butler to UC-Davis!! Nice get for Jim Les! He will have 3 years left...
UCD beats out Loyola, Saint Louis, and a few other top programs to land Berry.

Gabe Levin selects Marquette - time will tell if he might have been a little better fit at a mid-major

              Jim Benson
‏@Pg_Benson Sounds like Nick Barnyard is transferring to Illinois State from New Mexico. 6-8 F would have 2 yrs eligibility after sitting out year.

thanks - nice find - maybe stealing one back for what they did to us with Danny Granger?

..and the kid's name is Banyard not Barnyard - only averaged a little over 1 ppg, left New Mexico in April and announced he was looking for more playing time...but will he get any at ISU?

With what ISU will have at his position by the time he is eligible they won't need him to be a world beater. He is very athletic and rumors of him and the coach not getting along might be the reason for lack of pt.

but they lost Jamaal Samuel who appears to be a similar player... and use the open scholarship to get this guy..

The differences are: that Samuels actually could have played next year while Banyard cannot, and Samuels actually did a decent job when he was forced to be their emergency starter last year...was 2nd on the team in blocks and averaged as many rebounds per minute as Reggie Lynch did!
...while Banyard has never done anything - scoring a handful of points in garbage time only, while hitting an amazingly LOW 34% of his FG attempts even though they were all layups!

Aren't Bradley fans excited about Mike Shaw? Shaw shot the ball 9 times his sophomore season making 4. That is an astounding .444%.

Actually 6 of those 9 shot attempts were from 3-point range, and Mike made 3 out of 6 for a 50% three point percentage. Not bad.
Banyard rarely shot threes (1 for 6).

Gabe Levin says that Bradley was one of the only schools to offer him out of high school, but....
but the offer was to walk on for one year to redshirt before getting a scholarship - thus we missed on him...
"Bradley ..offered to walk-on a freshman with a scholarship for four years to follow"

Then when he went to prep school - we did not offer after that...now he's headed to Marquette...
"How did these schools not recruit me?’"

                            weird happenings for Gabe Levin...
now just as the season starts - he is leaving Marquette

I have to think this has a lot to do with it -

Interesting transfer from Murray State - wants to be back in Illinois

He is a freshman currently and has not played yet - he would have four years of eligibility left but could also be eligible as early as December of 2015...
or ask a Milton-Doyle-type waive to be eligible at the start of 2015

Jaquan McCloud is a very good player, and should get other good opportunities. I know the Bradley coaches were in touch with the Illinois Wolves (his AAU team) coaches about him. Too bad things didn't work out for him at Murray State.
