  • Milwaukee wins Horizon League Tournament

UW-Milwaukee was picked to finish last in the Horizon League in their preseason poll. Bradley played at Milwaukee on Dec. 7, and lost 73-67. But if anyone had any doubts about the value of good outside shooting, Milwaukee proved it can make the difference. They are not a very athletic team, but in last night's Horizon League Tournament Championship game against top seeded Wright State at Wright State's home arena, Milwaukee shot 9-18 from three to pull out a 69-63 upset win.
Box score for the Milwaukee Panthers vs. Wright State Raiders NCAAM game from March 11, 2014 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

They have done a good job with kids who many other schools passed on..
I will admit Jeter has done well -- Hmmm...

One of the other teams that secured their bid to the NCAA last night was Mount St. Mary's...
who currently sit at 16-16 but won their tournament with excellent shooting when it mattered in their conference tourney...

Four of their players were suspended for the rest of the season back in January including 2 starters - so this is pretty impressive.

Another Bradley foe (and home loss), IPFW, was a basket or two away from making the Big Dance in the Summit League final last night. They led most of the game on the road, and it made me feel at least a little better about losing to them at home. After all, Fort Wayne finished with 24 wins and second in their conference.

        But then.....

In looking at the Summit League's website I saw how the other alphabet soup team we lost at home to, IUPUI, finished. 6-26 and 1-13 in conference. Guess I had no idea. That has to be the worst home loss, or right up there, in BU history. How in the world.....

No more of those going forward, please. Protect, and respect, the home court.
        Yajusneverno!

No doubt ranks right up there. That loss to Wofford at home a few years back was brutal too. Also thought we might of lost to a D2 school at home once?
