In the early night game, Loyola is playing Indiana State. It is another low-scoring game Indiana State 15-Loyola 11 with 8 minutes left in the first half. Loyola is 2-11 from the fields, and Indiana State is shooting better, but has 5 turnovers.
Milton Doyle got two early fouls and sat down for a long stretch, but he's now back in the game. He does not have a basket yet.

Loyola shot 18% for the half (4-22), and is only down 4!

Indiana State about to close this out - up by nearly 20
Milton Doyle being whistled real early for 2 fouls was a huge factor - and benefitted InSU
Wouldn't surprise me much if it's InSU & WSU on Sunday

              MVC semifinals today (3/8 )

Missouri State vs. Wichita State in progress now-
Box score for the Wichita State Shockers vs. Missouri State Bears NCAAM game from March 8, 2014 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

One surprising fact- Wichita State, which has been in the MVC continuously since 1945, has never won the MVC Tournament.

And Southern Illinois vs. Indiana State later-
Live scores for NCAAM games on March 8, 2014 on ESPN. Includes box scores, video highlights, play breakdowns and updated odds.

It is hard not to notice that 2 of the semifinal teams playing today (SIU and MSU) are teams that were worse than Bradley last season.
SIU was the 10th place team , 6-12 in the MVC, and 14-17 overall, and RPI 193 (9th among MVC teams).
Missouri State was tied for 7th with Drake and BU (7-11), but had, by far, the worst overall record in the MVC at 11-22, and the worst RPI at 203.
Yet these 2 teams found a way to rebuild and turn their programs around quickly.

Illinois State also improved this season, and Evansville, Drake, UNI, and Loyola are all young teams that don't lose much going into next year. Bradley's work is cut out for them.

Witchita State is putting on a clinic this afternoon vs. Missouri State. Any program (including BU) should look at the type of players they recruit as well as their coaching strategy. Easy to say, apparently not so easy to do.

WSU now leads 65-32 with 4 minutes left. Looks nothing will stop them from a #1 seed.
They likely won't have much competition until at least the Sweet 16.

so the MVC is exposed as one really good team and 9 others battling for 2-10 .. who'da thunk it

2013-14 - only one MVC in Top 75 in RPI & only 3 in the top 100 - BU RPI 265
in both 2005-06 & 2006-07 - MVC had 7 teams in Top 75 in RPI and all TEN in top 100 & BU was right there with 'em

WSU has won the Valley tournament. Just not since it has been moved to St Louis. I think they won it against Tulsa in 87 for the last time.

Still a LOOOONNNNNNGGGGG drought though. So hopefully this is the year.

Yes, you are right. I heard one of the announcers say that, and I thought that didn't sound right. Wichita State won in 1985 & 1987.

The 2nd semifinal game between SIU and Indiana State is getting started about 20 minutes late because of a malfunction in one of the shot clocks. I cannot believe that for such an important game and tournament, they do not have an extra backup shot clock. The shot clock was working on the other end, so it was not a failure of the system, just the one clock. So they have shut them both off to avoid an unfair advantage for one team, and the shot clock timer will still be visible on the scoreboard and on the message board that circles the arena at the top of the lower bowl.

The game just started- and it's not what Barry Hinson would have wanted. Indiana State has jumped out to a 8-0 lead-

Thank you CBS- they showed the entire MVC Championship game instead of cutting away from the ending to cover the beginning of some other game like they did last year.

                            Wichita State wins easily 83-69-
