  • BU Roster for 2014-15

I know there will be additions and subtractions before the next season starts - but here's how it's shaping up..

    Returning starters:
    Auston Barnes 6-8 F
    Omari Grier 6-4 G
    Xzavier Taylor 6-9 C

    Returning who played decent minutes:
    KaDarryl Bell 6-1 G

    Returning deeper subs:
Nate Wells 7-ft C - it appears our staff has little confidence in Nate
Chris Blake 6-6 F/C - ** I like Chris' effort & hustle but he has not accounted for much production
    Anthony Fields 6-0 G
    Jordan Swopshire 6-6 G/F I don't have a good fell...
    Stefan Zecevic 6-6 G ...ditto....
    Darion Harris 5-11 G (w/o)

    New players:
Mike Shaw 6-8 F - should be able to grab playing time instantly but has not played the low post - likes to play away from the hoop.
Donte Thomas 6-6 F - just started his physical therapy after major knee surgery as HS senior. Look for talk of RS this fall.
Tramique Sutherland 5-11 G - could start but the last couple PG's brought in (Fields, Bell) are not starting.

BUT -- I really feel like at least 2 & maybe 3 of those on the middle list may not be here....
and as you look over the roster - we have just 3 guys over 6-6 (actually I think all four of the "6-6 guys" look to be much closer to 6-5, and none of them have shown any hint of effectiveness down low) - and one of them, Nate W. - just isn't likely to help.

so with only two "big bodies - one of whom isn't very big, isn't very productive or consistent, and doesn't log a lot of minutes - we may again be the weakest team in the paint in the entire MVC.
We need a few big bodies....

How come you don't have Auston Barnes listed as returning and played decent minutes? I agree that a minimum of two will be gone from the list of deep subs and possibly three. Tramique is going to have to step in right away and put a stranglehold on that PG position or we??™re in deep doo-doo again. We need big bodies for sure, but even more so I want to see more quality shooters and incorporate them into a mid-range game with Tramique running the show with what I hope will be pin point passing and minimal turnovers.

I do - he is the very first name listed as returning starter

Duh! My bad. I like AB and hope he can take his game to another level next year. We've seen it happen before...

he might be our best player and showed it in a couple games this year - but he is not aggressive and cannot do it alone....
