Congratulations Walt. I felt he deserved the 1st team, but that is still a great honor to be All MVC. Too bad Walt is the only player recognized. All our other players got shut out of the awards entirely.

Walt has now been All-MVC 2 years in a row!
Walt (2nd team in 2012 & 2013) and Taylor Brown (Hon. Mention in 2012) are the only Bradley players in the last 3 years to make All MVC designation.

What is with 6 players on the 1st team? I don't recall that happening before?

surprised that Mockevicius gets the nod over Tyshon Pickett

      stats in MVC play:

      Mockevicius - 10.5 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 9 assists/34 turnovers!, team finished 9th
      Pickett ------ 10.5 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 46 assists/57 turnovers, team finished 7th

      Head to head:
      Tyshon - 33 & 11
      Mock...29 & 20

Congrats to Walt. However, he might have deserved 1st team based on stats, but if I'm selecting the First team as the best players in the MVC, even as a BU Fan, Walt isn't on that 1st team.

Congrats Walt, right where you should have been. Don't know why 6 on the first team but can't argue any of them. All deserving IMO. Have to agree with Tornado, TP should have been H M. League looks to be a lot better next year with not a lot of seniors getting awards.
Only award that disappoints me is on the all Freshmen team. I am in agreement with Lynch of ISU making the team but disappointed that XT didn't have a better year for consideration. Lynch is gonna be a ton lets hope X puts in the time this summer and makes big strides. So much potential but a lot of work to do. IMO

Lynch is a solid freshman but until Jones went out more then halfway thru the season, Lynch was just getting backup minutes and his numbers were not that impressive.
8 ppg & 4.5 rpg wouldn't normally get you on the All Frosh team, except there really were very few freshmen who started anywhere in the MVC

I agree not impressive numbers but close to better than all 3 of our 5's if you added them together. Pross is a 5th yr SR and didn't come close to those numbers.

a couple years ago Bradley was recruiting in Minnesota and looking at a couple big men..... then made the decision to pursue Carter Evans and pass on Reggie Lynch who was pretty raw at the time...
Even the ISU people thought he might redshirt

In the end we also dropped our efforts in pursuing Evans and by then ISU had gotten Reggie Lynch, who turned out to be the far better of the two.. -

Fred Van Vleet is the MVC Player of the Year-

A couple strange votes- note that one voter gave a 1ST place vote to Tekele Cotton as the Player of the Year. Another voter voted Desmar Jackson POY.

Not sure who is making the recruiting decisions for us but I certainly would take the ISU evaluator over ours. Really like what they brought in this year and I think they have a couple very good ones sitting out this year. Some very tough decisions on who stays and who goes are gonna have to be made real soon but more importantly they are gonna have to be replaced by players who can come in and give us quality minutes right from the get go.

such a clear cut dividing line between the first five then Seth Tuttle...
so why was Tuttle then given recognition as 1st Team?

Newcomer of the Year is Milton Doyle
Defensive Player of the Year is Tekele Cotton
6th Man of the Year Indiana State's Khristian Smith

I guess I didn't see an implied criticism of you in this instance. I appreciate his occasional posts. I may not agree with any/all of them but he does present a different view of things.

I know Wichita is good - but it sems other MVC coaches have little confidence in their own teams...

we keep seeing comments from the other MVC coaches saying they don't think anyone can beat Wichita...

Then there was this comment a couple days ago from one of the MVC coaches...
Instead of the MVC coaches actually using their own judgement and voting for the league's top players..
"..I think Gregg should hand that award out...
..After all, who better to decide who the most valuable player.."

It would be nice if at least one coach stepped up and said something like "we're gonna try to beat them and I believe we have a chance - and if I didn't we'd save the costs of travel & the hotel..."

Well everyone knew it would be a Shocker....and Marshall would know better than anyone who the MVP would be.......so I don't think they are caving in to them. They are just showing respect and maybe, hopefully, trying to set them up a little to be overconfident in the tourney.
You know all coaches are saying something different to their team behind
                            closed doors.

I get it but I would like to see a little more ****s and tough talk among the other MVC coaches - or are they all afraid of Marshall?
