  • MVC RPIs

The MVC remains the 11th ranked conference
2013-2014 Men's College Basketball Conference RPI (Rating Percentage Index) - a ranking of conference based on the average RPI of the teams in the conference, plus non-conference wins and losses, the best teams and automatic bids from the conferences.

And here are the MVC teams' RPIs-

Bradley's RPI is 253. Indiana State's RPI dropped all the way to 72 with their 3-game losing streak. That removes any chance of an at-large bid, IMO.

Here are the final RPI's of the MVC teams (middle column).
The MVC has only 3 teams under 100 RPI, the fewest in memory.

I also notice one other ignominious fact- Looking back through the past years since the RPI was devised, this season is the first time in history that Bradley has not beaten a single team with an RPI under 100. That is a combination of 3 things- weak non-conference schedule, a severe fall in strength of the MVC, and inability to beat good teams.

But some people are saying that we are headed in the right direction, we're far deeper, quality talent at every position, we're getting better, or already are light years better, and have top recruiting classes that are on par with the best we've had since the Versace era...

a simple "google search" of the phrases finds literally dozens of people saying we are headed in the right direction - and they are entitled to their opinions....no matter how hard to justify...
even in 2011-12, in the middle of the worst year BU basketball ever had..some were saying the future was bright - now some are saying we'll be so much better after the current seniors are gone - LOL
and this column by DR saying we're headed in the right direction

and just this past week I saw this comment on one of the message boards after we won one game out of a six game stretch....
"..our Braves just took a very positive step in the right direction"

And there was this slightly overly optimistic assessment after Bradley came closer to Indiana State than expected-
But taking the Missouri Valley Conference's top contender to Wichita State to the brink on its home court was another strong statement by a BU team seemingly on the verge of vastly changing its fortunes.

for the better part of the last 20 years I have been accused of wearing rose colored glasses - for enjoying Bradley basketball way more then I should...

but at least there were 10-12,000 others like me coming regularly to games & St. Louis - now half are gone - could it be they saw it as it really was - and the people wearing rose colored glasses now are the ones the admin should not be catering to?

From an outsiders perspective I'd say that I can see hope for you guys moving forward. You have some good young talent that I think will give you a solid foundation as a team next year. I believe you have a couple of recruits coming in that should be able to help next year as well. And I don't know if you'll agree or not, but I think Lemon will be addition by subtraction. There's no doubt he's talented, but I don't think he did much of anything to make the team better.

Personally, I really want you guys to make the move and get where you belong and that's in 2nd place behind my Shox!

Bradley's RPI as of the time of this post, drops to 286, and is now dead last among MVC teams.

Quite a rebuilding job! If we give them another year or two, we might be able to compete with Grambling or Florida A&M for the bottom spot-

but Kirk Wessler says we are doing it the right way and we need to give them several more years

Bradley's final RPI is 296 - the worst I believe it has ever been -
and only a great game-saving effort by one of the players from the cupboard, Nate Wells, at Evansville kept Bradley from 300+ RPI
