BUT of the other 9 players who were either 1st or 2nd team, SEVEN of them are already gone and only two remain in the Valley (Odum, Early) -
(Even most of the Hon. Mention guys are gone as well)

...so Walt would have almost been a shoo-in for 1st Team and would have been in a 3-way battle for POY with Odum & Early had BU done a little better than Thursday nite.

I agree with Walt making the 2nd team last year and having better people around him surely helped. Like I said I'll be shocked if he make the 1st team this year and I don't give a tickers **** how many from last year are gone. It would be nice and I hope he makes 1st team but I just don't see it happening. Your argument in paragraph 3 contradicts your choose of words in paragraph 1 so I'm really confused as to what your trying to say. After all we are 7th this year as opposed to 10th last year.

Do you think both Odum and Early have had as good of a season as many people expected? I don't think they have. And as I said elsewhere, many people, including most WSU fans believe Van Vleet has been their MVP this season, not Early.
Lemon, Balentine, Carter, Tuttle, Gulley, and Desmar Jackson all would be getting votes for POY if their teams were contending, instead of barely .500 or worse. But it will probably go to someone on Wichita State, and most voters will give it to the senior Early, IMO.

Going into todays game Desmar Jackson is now at 1835 pts for his career. Of course 2 years were at Wyoming. This is on 91 career 3pt baskets.

Those are great career numbers, but it will barely get recognized. That happens when a kid transfers. Nobody gives him credit for his career numbers, because they were spread over 2 different teams & conferences.

It's not as likely to happen with McDermott, only because he will be the player of the year, and will end up with over 3,000 points. But someone like Desmar Jackson would be memorialized in a school's Hall of Fame if he did that all at one school.

I've been pretty hard on Walt over the years but for him to score the points he's scored, playing out of position for the last 2 1/2 years, is a heck of an accomplishment. Tramique will have some big shoes to fill. Walt will be a star over in International play.

I keep hearing Walt was playing out of position for like 3 years! SIU lost their point guard early this year and the only person they had to fill the spot was a player who always played the 2 in high school and made the adjustment in about a month. He is playing like he has always played the point. Anthony Beane has only played the position since mid January! He is playing out of position and making everyone else look pretty good also. It sure didn't take him very long to learn the position? Don't get me wrong Walt has had a great career and has been a great student at BU which means a lot and I do commend him for that.

Beane has been impressive playing point guard for SIU- However, Beane played a lot of point guard in high school, and in AAU ball. He had very good ball-handling and passing skills. So he was quite experienced at that position, unlike Walt, who had never played point at any time in his past.

How much would you say is because he was forced to play point guard, a position he never played before? Some people make a big deal out of his 3 turnovers a game, but without his 17.8 points per game, we'd be looking up at Loyola from 10th place.
