  • Does anyone think Blake Schilb is an NBA player?

I am not trying to knock the kid, because he is a very good player. But I have followed college basketball a long time, and IMO, there is no way this kid will be drafted. He is too slow, a poor passer, and not a good enough shooter. When his shot wasn't falling, instead of passing and trying to help his team in other ways, he just kept shooting and making bad decisions and bad passes. He ended 3-14, and considering he had the ball most of the time Loyola was in possession, he had only 2 assists in 34 minutes (and one of them was an accidental deflection of one of his passes that went to someone right under the basket for a layup), and a ridiculous 6 turnovers (it could have been a lot more because there were numerous other deflections that nearly resulted in turnovers).

Most of the Loyola players, including Schilb, were not in as good condition as the Bradley players, and were soaked with sweat and sucking a lot of wind every stoppage of play. It clearly affected their shooting and defense.

Bradley showed they are a superior team. The mark of a good team is that it didn't matter which Bradley players were on the floor, any combination of 5 BU players outplayed whoever was on the floor for Loyola.

IMO- Schilb will play pro somewhere, it just won't be in the NBA.

Players can have bad games. JJ was all over him and he (Schlib) appeared to get frustrated. He seemed to force alot instead of taking what BU gave him (which wasn't much).

I personally haven't seen enough of him to make that call....

I agree that you can't tell from just 1 game. There was an NBA scout in my row, and I;m sure he was there to evaluate Schilb.

But I do agree that his game seems a bit slow for the NBA.

Maybe it depends on how good his left upper-cut is.

If anything, the guy has got 'style' (based on his hair-doo) - which may count for something.

But honestly - he has an NBA body for a big man. He is a force around the bucket - so yea - he has a shot.

I'd like to see him on a night when JJ isn't on his hip all night. I'm sure Schilb's a good player (he's got a good looking shot -- when it goes in) but JJ was in his face throughout the game. One of the best defensive performances I've ever seen from Tauai, which is something considering that's the case almost every night.

I think Schilb is kind of in that Sommerville category where he has a lot of skill in a lot of areas, but isn't great in one particular area to give him a lot of NBA potential. I picture him playing overseas or in the ABA/CBA, but not the NBA.

Watching the game the other night, Pruitt and Carter both looked like they had NBA performances, but I think Pruitt could be a late bloomer. He's been dominate this year and a force under the basket. He can't shoot a free throw to save his life, but neither can Shaq. Really, I could care less. The NBA is not basketball and therefore not worth watching.
