Fireworks - cool
Mascot - OK I guess
Smoke during the entire game - Ridiculous. How does one NOT forsee this is as a problem?
Student section - Great, but what is the logic in having a T-shirt and hand towel giveaway for the student at the second to last game of the year? If we did this in November, maybe they would have come back for more.
Band - Very good. Loved hearing Sweet Georgia Brown again. It's a basketball song. "Marry You" by Bruno Mars is not....
The pregame is EXTREMELY bloated. Alma Mater, film clip rerun, national anthem, Loyola lineup, sportmanship video, BU intro video, Bradley lineup, and tonight KaGoyle the Garboom. Need to trim that sucker down next year. How about, I don't know, opponent lineup, Bradley lineup, play ball?

BTW, there was someone who was taken away from the concourse on a stretcher by paramedics. Did anyone see or hear what happened? I hope it wasn't related to the smoke.

A lot of people in my section thought Kaboom was a stupid name and and had a very scary face. I don't mind the name and I'm not sure you can make a gargoyle look anything but scary. Must not have been too scary as I thought the kids responded to him very well. I do have to wonder who was in charge of the pyrotechnics and fireworks. Smoke going off inside needs an avenue to go out. It's not that hard.

The term Kaboom! is attributed to Dave Snell's longtime regular use of the term to describe a dunk. But he was not the first to use the term. A number of other broadcasters have used the term before. Even Frank Bussone was using the term many years ago to describe a dunk, but he did not use it so constantly for it to become his signature phrase.
By the way, there are lots of proprietary products that use the term.
There is a national non-profit organization that builds playgrounds named KaBOOM! (with the exclamation mark)- I hope there is not a conflict with the use of the name.
When every kid has amazing places to play, communities thrive and create generations of healthy and happy kids.
There was a 1981 Atari game named Kaboom! (also with the exclamation mark)-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaboom!_(video_game)
There was also a 2010 movie with the title Kaboom
Kaboom is also the name of a Jamaican restaurant in Los Angeles-
There is also a line of home cleaning products named Kaboom-
Your favorite Kaboom products have a new look and packaging with OxiClean™. The formula inside stayed the same and still works hard to keep your bathroom clean.
And Kaboom! (again with the exclamation mark) is the name of a line of Boom-Boxes made by JVC-
Here’s the Kaboom! RV-NB70 - a massive boombox from JVC, complete with an iPhone/iPod dock. Rock the house with loud, incredible bass from the Kaboom!
The PBS show NOVA had a TV show named Kaboom!-
NOVA Online presents Kaboom! Check out the Anatomy of a Firework, the chemical makeup of pyrotechnic display, and an interview with Stacey Loizeaux, Demolition Woman.
And a Google search reveals many more uses of the term going back many years.

I'm not a copy write expert, but, I believe multiple businesses can use a name as long as the use is not in a competing business, and, does not weaken existing user's brand identity. For example if another chemical company promoted the name Kaboom for their cleaner, they would be in trouble. If a car mfg called their latest model the Kaboom, the chemical company has no reason to complain. That is why you see multiple uses of the 'word' Kaboom when you Google search it. The likeness of Kaboom! Could be an issue if it copies some other registered image.
Wonder if Dave Snell feels inclined to sue BU for hijacking his Kaboom! basketball call for another basketball commercial use? :-) If BU doesn't start to play better, could be defamation of Snell's character..:-)BUilding for the Future

Time will tell if the mascot is appealing enough to sell..the opinions I heard were mixed....from "cute" to "menacing"..
The man inside the suit was a hired professional and won't be the one inside in the future...but whoever they get needs to be be funny, witty, athletic, and friendly, and interact well with the fans. Learn from the San Diego Chicken.
The fireworks and loud explosions at the intro with the little kids at courtside caused a few to be upset & crying and a couple had to be taken off the court by moms. The smoke was indeed a distraction all night.
The discounted tickets and promotions worked a little - crowd was 8900...way better than usual, but sad that when we get 8900 on a Saturday night, now we call it a good crowd - when just a couple years ago - that would have been a bad one.
I noticed when the mascot went up and down the aisles - two attendants also had to go with him every time and "guard" his wings to be sure nobody grabbed them or tugged on them. That seemed odd - they must not be attached very well or they are very fragile. If he can't get into a crowd without fear of damage to the costume then what's he gonna do - just stay out on the court?
The mascot's appearance is pretty similar to the gargoyles on Bradley Hall
The PJ Star blogger thinks they should change the name - and one guy said Kaboom! looks like Count Chocula
