  • Muller complaining?

In this morning's newspaper Dan Muller is quoted as complaining...
"....This will be four games in nine days,” he said. “That's a lot.."

Well, it is not so uncommon....Bradley played Feb. 6, 9, 12, and now 15 - thus we are also playing our 4th game in 9 days.
So it's the same for us as them!

Plus -as I look at Bradley's schedule - this is the third time this season we have had to play a game that was our fourth in nine days - so it is not rare.

And Muller actually has a fairly deep bench - he has not been hit with any more injuries than most other MVC squads -MSU & SIU losing their starting point guards.
ISU has nine guys available that average double digit minutes - Bradley only has eight.

I thought injuries could be used as a valid excuse for a team not succeeding.

Unless you're a coach certain people want to get rid of.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Jon Jones is done for the year. Reggie Lynch is playing with a face mask because of a broken nose. Once again turning simple words to prove a point or create a theory. Muller made a simple true statement. Playing four games in 9 days is a lot. Yes everybody is dealing with this.

but if everyone in the league is playing essentially the same number of games in the same number of days - and if he has no more serious injuries than anyone else -- why even make a comment on it?
..and yes, I believe a team with a lot of injuries does really have at least an explanation as to why their performance may not be what was expected...
but to my knowledge only one ISU player is injured and cannot play.

Lynch has not missed a game. John Jones is the only player who has missed a single game due to injury, and he was not projected to be a starter and was not contributing much, and Lynch is better. So the injury excuse is pretty weak, too.

Hey, I think he's doing a good job, but it just sounds a little like complaining to me. We once had a coach that some fans parsed his every word in order to label him as a complainer. At least pick something that not every team has to deal with.

Not a isu fan by any means, but their coach was being interviewed snd made a true statement. Didn't read the interview, so I don't know if he brought up injuries as mvcfan did.

Don't know what that's supposed to mean, all I was wondering is, did he bring up injuries as mvcfan did.

No, it was only brought up by mvcfan. Muller only dwelt on the 4 games in 9 days.

Geno said the exact same thing on the postgame show

Geno said the exact same thing on the post game show -- his guys had tired legs from playing so much.

Muller in his 2nd year as a head coach is a better coach than our experienced coach -- they don't have much different talent (probably worse imo) but they "occasionally" have an offense against the zone -- as seen recently. Tonight they just hit a bunch of shots. I'm not say Muller is a "Great" coach -- just a better one.

I have a feeling somebody may accuse me of being an ISU fan and I do see all the ISU games but I also see all the Bradley games (unless they are on the same night when I choose Bradley). I'm a 25 year season ticket holder-Bradley Alum, go to St. Louis every year (and to Detroit in the sweet 16 year). There's not a more true Bradley Fan but the type of product we have isn't good...and don't see it getting better.

not sure I agree -- he has a ton of good athletes, good scorers, and was handed great players last year as well -- in Tyler Brown, Carmichael, etc...

they underperformed last year and they are the most Jekyll & Hyde team I have ever seen with chaotic offense and wild, playground offense...
They do beat some teams, but they really aren't playing that much better than we are despite they appear to actually have better raw talent.
Muller has had player issues and suspensions....not sure I see much to convince me he's a better coach

                          not great -- but better

ok -- good debate -- hasn't Geno lost his share of recruits? As far as who he was handed -- I agree that Tyler Brown was good as well as Carmichael who was a very good player...but didn't Geno have Simms-Edwards and many people loved Egolf (I'm not so sure about him).

I didn't say Muller was a great coach -- ie last year -- but Geno has done anything better and came in with a supposed better pedigree (prior head coaching) and inherited a program that had a better reputation...

                          Appreciate the discussion!

                            One other thing...

I really don't know the answer to this -- so I'm taking a chance --

Compare Muller's road record to Geno's in the Valley? Who's better percentage wise?

Also, I like Muller playing some actual teams in the pre-valley schedule (VCU, Louisville)...they get shellac'ed but I always feel that makes a better team in the long run -- who does Bradley beat in the pre-valley and what does that do.

Geno's MVC record on road in MVC is:
2011-12 0-9 in regular season, 0-1 in MVC tournament
2012-13 1-8 in reg season, 0-1 in MVC tournament, 0-1 in the CIT
2013-14 1-6 so far in reg season
Totals: 2-23 in regular season, 2-26 overall

Muller's record on road in MVC:
2012-13 3-6 in reg season, 1-1 in MVC tournament
                              2013-14 1-6 so far
Totals: 4-12 in reg season, 5-13 overall

Recall that Muller did inherit a team last year that was picked 2nd in the preseason poll, and they even had a couple 1st place votes (they finished 6th)-
