  • 100 Greatest College Basketball Programs

Street & Smith's will be releasing a publication outlining the best that college basketball has had to offer through the years in "100 Greatest College Basketball Programs of All Time," which hits newsstands Tuesday (the 25th).

A poster on Valleytalk (Ace95) was able to scour the internet and compile a PARTIAL list of the programs through various news releases. The entire list has yet to be released, but here's what we know so far.....

    1. Kentucky
    2. UCLA
    3. North Carolina
    4. Kansas
    5. Duke
    6. Indiana
    7. Louisville
    8. Arkansas
    9. Connecticut
    10. Cincinnati
    11. Utah
    19. Princeton
    28. UNLV
    30. Purdue
    31. Western Kentucky
    32. Villanova
    36. BYU
    42. Wyoming
    45. Creighton
    50. LSU
    51. Weber St.
    54. Alabama
    59. Tulsa
    61. Memphis
    64. Georgia Tech
    66. Dartmouth
    68. Holy Cross
    72. Santa Clara
    74. Boston College
    75. Providence
    77. Tennessee
    78. Massachusetts
    80. Davidson
    81. Tennessee-Chattanooga
    82. Utah St.
    93. Northeastern
    95. Louisiana-Monroe
    96. Florida
    98. New Mexico
    99. Mississippi St.

Creighton is the only MVC team that is listed so far (in the top-50, no less), and with that I expect BU and WSU to make the list as well, hopefully in the top-50. Heck, if they overlook the fact that ISU has only been D-I for 35 years, they might make an appearance in the top-100. It will be interesting to see if Indiana State could sneak in, as their tradition outside of the Larry Bird years is fairly weak.

I also strongly disagree with not listing UCLA as #1. Kentucky has had more consistent success, but no team comes close in terms of national championships!

    -4 NCAA Sweet 16s
