The injury to John Jones could hurt ISU more than it might seem from his limited numbers. Lynch is prone to fouls, and it's possible the injury last night might even have some lingering concussion issues. But from what I saw last night and in several earlier ISU games, Jamaal Samuel is simply not a Division I player. He really hurt ISU, and allowed Bradley to get to the basket and score inside. His offense is extremely limited, he can't shoot free throws (he's now at 20% for the season), and he is terrible on defense. Much of the Bradley surge in the final 10 minutes was attributable to Samuel getting confused and lost on defense, or being too slow or out of position to give help defense. OTOH, Reggie Lynch has pretty good skills for a freshman, and is far more effective on defense. Without Jones, ISU will need Lynch to stay in games and play a lot of minutes or other opponents will exploit their inside deficiencies.

Samuel will either be recruited over or redshirt next year in my opinion. I think the coaching staff took a chance because they needed a body and missed on other targets.

After watching BU and ISU muck up 3/4th's of the game....... I don't know how that could be graded an A- by the Journal Star. Unless all wins are automatically an A. ISU was just worse than us for a longer period of time.

The game took a sharp turn when Reggie Lynch got clunked in the nose - ISU was ahead 32-27 then BU went on a 21-3 run making the score 48-35 while Lynch sat out.
We were a bit fortunate on that - could have been a flagrant call the way we (AND our fans) have been getting hammered lately by the refs...
and if Tyshon had been ejected maybe the whole game goes the other direction?

ISU is definitely a team that goes hot & cold....when they played Dayton & when they clobbered Drake, they shot well & then the next game they went 1-25 vs. Wichita and have hit only 5-47 (10.6%) since.

The grades that Reynolds give are usually a joke. Last nights game was no different. He just doesn't know basketball. He is a spin master for the basketball program. I wouldn't be surprised if JG approves everything he writes before it goes to the paper.

I applaud her enthusiasm and efforts to get the students and fans involved -

as for the attendance.....8403 ....it was our biggest home crowd of the year by far, but...
historically the ISU game at Carver Arena has always drawn way, way more...

-we drew over 9000 last year
-we drew almost 10,600 the year before
-we averaged 11,200 with numerous sellouts in the seven years before that...

                  I don't understand

I'm not a long time Peoria resident. This is my 10th year as a BU fan. There is something I don't understand. Why do we stand around on offense? I realize that we don't play a motion offense, but IMHO an offense without movement is not an offense. One of the best plays I've seen for a while at BU was last night when we were in the 4 corners and Barnes cut to the basket from the corner. The result - a good pass and a dunk.

I get really tired of watching 4 men standing in position and one person dribbling the ball.

                    It's called lack of coaching.

I think most of it results from being too dependent on Lemon to make all the plays. Also a true point guard would enhance ball movement.

Hopefully some the issues are being addressed with recruitment.
