I've been watching basketball for over 40 years and I thought the first 25 minutes of the game could have been the worst 25 minutes I've ever seen 2 teams play. Air balls and point blank bricks, passes to the crowd, lazy and unforced turnovers, not blocking out, I could go on and on. Both teams were just pathetic. We finally woke up and put it to them during the last 15 minutes outscoring them 33-13. Not sure what's happened to ISU. They were actually looking pretty good for a while but they seem to be in a collective team wide shooting slump. If we can get at least 3 more wins 7 and 11 might be good enough to finish 6th and avoid the play in game because let's face it, other than Wichita, the rest of the Valley is just bad.
BU 2013-14 MBB: The Best of Times (vs ISU-R), The Worst of Times (vs UNI)
"They can be the best of teams, they can be the worst of teams, it was the age of Lemon's shining, it was the age of Lemon's foolishness, it was the epoch of belief in a top 4 MVC finish, it was the epoch of incredulity that BU could possibly avoid Friday in St Louis, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the fall of hope, it was the winter of despair, BU had something for us to cheer, then we had nothing before us and we booed, BU was all going direct to the NCAA's, BU was all going direct the other way, Friday, in short, the GF period has so far been like the late JL period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only."
PEORIA, Ill. - Walt Lemon, Jr. scored 16 of his game-high 20 points in the final 9:36, helping Bradley break open a close game against Illinois State en route to a 64-45 win Wednesday at Carver Arena.
And the official box score- confirms the final score was 64-45-
I hate to see this kinda stuff happen on our home court...
Per Kirk Wessler...
"... Actually, the margin was 19, but don’t blame Ford for the error.
The final score on the box score initially distributed in the media room was wrong.
Like the clock that failed to start and tick off 10 seconds of second-half action was wrong.
Like the first called timeout of the second half, by ISU coach Dan Muller, that lasted only 30 sec..."
and yes - the final score was apparently CHANGED well after the game was over and corrected to a 19-point margin.
ESPN had it right but apparently our people did not ??
That first half looked like a Highscool JV game. I can't believe I'm about to say this, but I actually felt sorry for ISU several times during the game. I'm certainly glad to see BU take advantage of them in the second half and get a much needed win.
Two winnable road games coming up if you aren't Bradley. Bradley absolutely needs to figure out how to win on the road...
Pretty ugly game all around. ISU is really struggling to shoot for some reason. Also the lack of depth down low is starting to really hurt them. It appears Bradley has swung out of it's early conference funk. It's kind of funny to see Taylor and Lynch show similar promise, but have the exact same foul issues. I know many have been down on Geno, but I do think he is a couple pieces away from being on the upswing. For me it is tough to see these games not packed. The glory days have kind of disappeared from this rivalry and I wish they would play both of these games on Saturday afternoons. The attendance would be better and makes it a better outing to have groups full of both sides out and about. Looking around last night Bradley has the same blue hair problem ISU has and there appears to be a major disconnect among people 25-40 years of age.

BU's lucky to have the "blue hairs". Many have been there for years, good or bad.
