How can the AD keep anyone on this staff after the season is over?

  • #2
The current staff, unless some assistant, will remain intact for next year and probably the 5th year. There is a lot of money tied up in this staff.

I know results have been terribly disappointing, especially considering all the optimistic PJS articles, but a good point guard, and shooter, and a decent big man could help turn the team around. Now whether Bradley can get these kind of players next year is unknown. It seems like the JC point guard recruit is at least putting up decent numbers in junior college. We will just have to wait and see if the promise is fulfilled.

..think it will be the AD's call? the AD has now been here four years -
with all the changes, overhauls, firings and hirings...can you point to a single one of our programs that's done well in that interval...except of course soccer that was already doing well and has been left alone...
If any conclusion can be drawn, although it's a little too late, is that maybe more programs should have been left alone.
From the day the announcement of his hiring was made 'til now BU basketball's record has been 54-86...it has been the most painful stretch to endure in my lifetime and there's no end in sight...by next year home attendance is gonna be 4000.

Yes, this will not be the AD's decision. As I have said before, after the 2010-2011 season, Dr. Cross wrote his end-of-the-year recommendation to the Pres. that we should give Jim Les another year. It didn't make any difference, as the Pres. made the decision and JL was fired. Even the decision to go after Geno Ford was not the AD's decision. So don't expect the AD to have any influence.

Some people here foresaw and predicted all of this. Others cheered the changes and mocked those who advised caution. To them, any change was a guaranteed improvement. Now we know who was right and who was wrong.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

Those comments by Reynolds and Wessler just show how out of touch these two are and have been. Sorry state that so many live by what these two say.

                Change

Clearly, we need a change and we need it at the end of this season! Without going into the obvious deficiencies, mistakes, and problems we see night after night on court plus our anemic recruiting, the Bradley BB program is dying.
Coaches who Cheerlead at courtside don't usually win consistently. Tough minded, hardnosed coaches who teach, push their players, and demand good performance do.
The Pres., AD, and Trustees need to step up if Bradley is going to continue to have any kind of decent BB program.

That is what I have been saying. Cross is nothing other than a figurehead. He does not make the decisions and that is where the problem is folks. If you are going to clean house you need to start at the top. You can hire and fire coaches and athletic directors all you want the result will be the same. Bradley Athletics is being destroyed from above.

Interesting you mention Mo. My wife said to me last night how much she missed going to games back when Mo was the coach because she always knew we had a great chance to win and that the crowd and atmosphere was so much better. I can't say I disagree.

well, be ready wiz - there are going to be big changes at the end of the season and we'll see a lot of new faces next year but it will be a deja vu from last spring - reloading with inexperienced spring leftovers
We need to be bringing in talented freshmen and giving them time to develop and adding only a few solid, capable juco kids who can help us offensively AND defensively.

Swop is your Shooter and the BIG is Shaw and the PG you mentioned so there ya go!

I hope Ford gets as much love going forward as he has hate this far!

How do we know Shaw can play? He couldn't get off the bench on a not very good U of I team.
