What is with your attack on Butler? They had back to back national title appearances. They're good enough for any conference. They have a new coach and lost their best player. You of all people should understand what losing your best player can do to a team...

UNC is 0-3 in the ACC, hasn't been to a National title game since 09 and is in tons of trouble academically. So they can compete they should probably drop down to the MVC... Be very wary of small sample sizes. And I'll be honest, I don't think losing has anything to do with whether you're in the right conference. Northwestern sure doesn't seem to be trying to get out of the Big Ten...

Just the opinion of one person (who, by the way is right a lot more than I am wrong). I simply predicted Butler had a great situation dominating their conference, recruiting good players, keeping almost them all of them for 4 years allowing them to develop into a great team.
But I said that the move to the Big East would turn them into an also-ran, like it has to DePaul. And that is exactly what has happened. Now when they try to recruit and compete for the higher level players that other Big East, ACC, Big Ten type conferences are going after, they won't get them.
They'll still make more money in the Big East, so if that is the most important thing to them, they will be OK.

I'll predict that that Creighton will see a similar thing after McDermott leaves. IMO, they will not be able to compete with the top teams year after year.
