KFOX14 News in El Paso is reporting that suspended UTEP men's basketball players Jalen Ragland and McKenzie Moore are under an FBI investigation according to their sources.
The FBI does not get involved in many college athlete disciplinary issues, unless it involves a potential federal crime. Point shaving is a federal crime.
One of the players is Jalen Ragland, a junior from Chillicothe, Ohio. He was a class of 2011 recruit, and one of the offers he held in high school was from then Kent State coach Geno Ford.
The other kid, McKenzie Moore, is from California. He initially committed to St. Mary's of the WCC, but then backed out, spent a year at City College of San Francisco, then transferred to UTEP.
UTEP Coach Tim Floyd initially suspended the 2 players a week ago and said this-
The suspensions are indefinite. I don't know how long they will last. It is based on a violation of team rules. I'm not able to talk about it right now but it will all come out eventually."

Although the people at UTEP have known about this situation for over a week, and possibly more (the players were suspended Dec. 2, and they have tried to suppress the information and refued to give the real reasons for their players' suspensions. But now that the story has leaked out, Tim Floyd, and UTEP's Executive Vice President and Athletic Director have quickly called a press conference for today to address this matter, and no doubt try to do some damage control.

now a 3rd player is named and all three are dismissed - interesting that they were NOT dismissed until the story was made public even though UTEP knew what was happening a couple weeks ago.
