  • Tonight's MVC games- MSU/SLU and UE/Austin Peay

The MSU Bears will have their hands full at SLU tonight against a Billiken team that won at Loyola-Chicago's place. And the Ramblers had their way with UNI.

Do believe that MSU is on a mission this season and will be ready to go in this tilt with the Billikens. I've got the Bears in a close one:

    MSU 68
    SLU 66

UE has won 7 of 8 now with the one setback being at Missouri.
Think the Aces travel to Austin Peay and come out with a 7 point win.

    UE 71
    Austin Peay 64

What do you guys see happening in tonight's games?
    You can climb any mountain

This is the best Billiken team that SLU has fielded in the past several years. They are not yet a great team, and have a long way to go for NCAA consideration, but will at least get an NIT bid.

          Is that a 'BOOK IT'?

SLU beats Mo State 51-50 on a last-second tip-in by big man Ian Vouyoukas. Officials had to check the replay numerous times to confirm it. They originally waved off the basket before going to the video.

Tough loss for the Bears, but SLU is a very solid, well-coached team. They should be one of the top teams in the A10.

Evansvile wins! 80-75 at Austin Peay. Nice win for the Aces.--

Missouri State loses to St. Louis. They lead nearly the entire game. SLU tipped in a shot at the buzzer for a 1 point win. The refs needed a video replay to determine if the tip was before the buzzer and they ruled it counted. What a tough loss!--

Not a bad loss for MSU per se, but the way they lost it was ugly as they got held scoreless the final 3 minutes. They also missed two free throws near the end.

Free throws, free throws, free throws. Gotta make those free throws!

                      A couple interesting notes:

Ahearn played 29 minutes and didn't score (0-4 FG, 0-1 from 3). He even missed a FT?!

And Vouyoukas' tip-in to win it was the #1 play on SportsCenter.

Evansville made a huge comeback after trailing much of the game.
Let's see how Evansville does Friday against Butler.
Matt Webster sat a while due to fouls and a twisted ankle (he has ankle problems in the past) but still ended up with 18 points,
Kyle Anslinger led with 26 points.
Evansville shot 62% as a team (60% on 9-15 from 3-point range) and outrebounded Austin Peay 27-22, so it is puzzling why Evansville trailed much of this game before finally rallying at the end.
UE is 8-1 over their last 9 games.

Interesting story out of St. Louis.

Apparently the video feed (supplied by the broadcasting team from Missouri State) that was used to make the final call which won the game for St. Louis,
was faulty and the time shown was not correct as the refs reviewed the play and made the call favoring St. Louis.

An independent replay of the game apparently shows quite clearly and convincingly that Ian Vouyoukas' tip-in was definitely late.
Even the St. Louis people now admit it.

So really Missouri State won the game, but there's nothing they can do about it now, as the game result in final.
                          So they got robbed!

OMG - that is too much!

Wonder if Digger and Packer will ever know this.
