Regardless - I'd love for you to find even one post calling for GF to be fired - you're kinda making that stuff up and it just discredits your point...
I showed you a post by Kirk Wessler himself admitting he turned on Jim Les in Les' 2nd year and began the drumbeat to run him out of here...and lots of us saw & remember people wanting JL out from year 2, 3 and beyond.

And GF lost 25 his 1st year and 17 his 2nd - JL lost 17 only once after 2002-03 but he also WON 21 that year -

Anyway - we all want to win - and at 6-9 we're not quite there yet - this team still has a potential like none other in my lifetime- to be able to lose by 40 on any given night.
just check out the UNI/BU thread. jasonpeoria and BU fan 9 are calling for GF to be sent packing. There maybe more, but that was on the first page alone-
im sure more posts can be found wanting GF to be gone. just sayin its out there.

First - if it's "out there" then isn't that what message boards are for - people can vent...
but...they were calling for it if he failed to turn things around - both were pretty veiled and did not say fire him now.......I have yet to see anyone say GF should be fired now
Jason said he "should go" (didn't say when) and 9 said he shouldn't get another year...but he already has 2.5 more years on his agreement

it was a nice team win. Walt , TP, Barnes, even Swop was solid in limited minutes. Its a team game, and walt does best when the team plays well. Walt cant do it by himself. Its apparent you love to trash and criticize GF and the team, but when they play well, and execute a good game plan...its ok to give them a compliment-

i didnt say they couldnt vent. you said they were not calling for GF to be fired.
im not sure how the quotes of " should go" shouldnt get another year" 'clean house and start over" can be viewed not as wanting GF fired.

I agree with you, they are pretty much calling for him to be fired, maybe out of frustration, but it's pretty clear they were never really in favor of Geno's hiring, or at least the way JL was let go( I agree with that part).

I'll be honest, I haven't put it on a message board (though have admittedly said it behind closed doors) but if the season ends similar to Geno's first I'll be the same way I was in JL's last - I don't think he should be fired, but I would understand it and wouldn't be adamantly opposed. But I think the important thing is that this is by far the best game I've seen out of BU in quite a while. WL started to scare me towards the end though, taking bad, off-balance shots from an isolation set, though he made all of them and the important thing was that he was using all 35 seconds.

Keep in mind that there were some personal issues between the President and Jim that also came into play. I don't know anyone who believes that he was fired only for the team's performance on the court.

OC you make an interesting point--
but when Rick Majerus created a severe schism between himself and the Archbishop & Saint Louis University President - whose position was "condemned" by Archbishop Burke -
they would have made a serious error to fire him - they didn't and look how successful they have been since...
they did not make the serious error in judgement that some schools did make

It might be safe to assume that some of those people no longer work for the University as well.

Yep. Sometimes it's tough being the boss.

Geno is not even close to Rick Majerus.

Haha, i'm actually glad I was wrong, pleasantly surprised with the way they played. need to keep that effort up and hopefully more shots will fall from outside.

anyone else care to make irrelevant/useless/self serving coaching comparisons?

I think this is a great post. At the end of the day.......a mid major college coach still has to answer to the AD and the President. Like it or not. No different than the rest of us, he still has to answer to someone. A good working relationship with your boss ( and even the press in the coaching world) goes a very long way!

On the flip side........you can not get along well with your bosses, not get along well with the press...............but you better be DOMINATING your league. Im just saying that Greg Marshall can probably get away with more than most mid major coaches
