  • Braves recruiting Orr

I know a couple of Orr Academy players have been mentioned before.. Tyquone Greer and I believe Marlon Jones was at the Red & White Scrimmage. Add Louis Adams to the list. He is a 6'4" 2guard and is the coach's son.

I was told the Braves have been working very hard on Jones and Adams in particular.

While looking for some info on them I ran across the list of IL players who have not signed yet. The Braves are mentioned with about 6 of them.

there are rumors & stories about how many of the various AAU programs are a bit at odds with each other...some plain do not like each other and there have even been notable "rivalries"..
If a school cozies up to one certain program - then they may be boxing themselves out of opportunities with other programs...
there have even been long, detailed stories written about this phenomenon....

If a program wants really good access to all the top talent in, say, Chicago - then they need to pay attention, keep in close contact with, and deal with all the AAU programs - not just one or two and effectively shut others out...

We posted that article in another thread. Bradley has offered all 5 of the top remaining 2014 players in Illinois, and several of the "Others" listed.

I can't quite believe 2G Louis Adams, and WF Tyquon Greer are at the top of Bradley's list, since they are too much like many other players we already have or have committed for 2014. I have heard the priority now is a shooter and another point guard.

I'm just passing on what I was told by someone with good connections to the recruiting scene in Illinois. I have no clue what the team's priorities are. The Braves have been knocking on the door at Orr, hard and somewhat recently. Adams and Jones were the names mentioned.

Maybe were are looking at the coach's son to build a connection to help with other recruiting... Just a thought.

AAU is going to ruin the sport, if it hasn't already. Too self serving.

I have nothing against kids from Orr,in fact I saw them play in Peo. last March. The kids mentioned would be good additions but we also need to be checking the cornfields of Iowa for those shooters that UNI always seem to get. Their reserves were better shooters than anyone we put on the floor. When will we learn this idea of long, lanky, athletic non shooting kids isn't gonna work. Having great kids, and we do, and great students ,who can't shoot a lick isn't gonna get us out of Thur. night in St.L. We seem to be the poster child for the definition of insanity.

Could not agree more. I've been saying this for the last 2 1/2 years. Geno loves that raw, athletic type of player, and maybe that was good enough to win the MAC conference. But with the outstanding coaching in the MVC, it isn't good enough to stay out of Thursday night.
If we end up playing in the Thursday night play-in round this coming March, Geno will become the first coach in Bradley history to do it 3 straight years!
                Not exactly a resume' enhancer.

terrible news - Academy's Tyquone Greer was shot last night
..he is stable and already out of the hospital but won't play any more this season.

Wow. He is a very good player, and was one of the best unsigned seniors in the state. Bradley had been recruiting him, but the rumor was he was waiting in hopes of getting high major offers.

Orr's Marlon Jones verbals to Loyola....pretty solid player - St. John's was making a last minute push for Jones

Huge pick up for the Ramblers. I was hoping Bradley would push hard for him.

We already have a clone of Jones and his name is Taylor. They are carbon copies of each other.

I don't know that I agree with that, but even if true, I am ok with having two young athletic post players.

hard to know if he'll develop at Loyola -

In his two games at IHSA March Madness in the Civic Center he averaged 10.5 ppg & 4 rpg & a lot of turnovers (4/gm)
His season averages were better than XZ's but competition was different
