what's happening is gonna result in terrible crowds --- as I have noted elsewhere - a lot of the very fans who wanted exactly what we have and who have been proclaiming thru rose colored glasses that we have a great team, and we're headed in the right direction, and that we're "light years better"...
even those fans are tanking and not showing up for games!!! Their seats are empty! They did their little TD dances when they got what they wanted then when the giddiness wore off they finally see reality and are staying home.
I didn't renew my tickets last year due to coaching my daughter's junior high basketball team. She opted not to play this year as a freshman in HS to focus on soccer and volleyball, so I seriously considered getting season tickets again. My wife convinced me to wait and we'd just buy single tickets for the games we really wanted to attend. After seeing this trainwreck of a season unfold, I'm not sure if I'll go back to a game this year. Also have a friend who's family has had first row season tickets since the civic center opened. He told me yesterday that he's been to one game and not sure if he'll go back this year. We sadly joked that he'd have a hard time giving away his seats for free, even though they're front row. His dad is getting older, so he mentioned that it may not be worth it to renew because he doesn't enjoy watching what's out there today.

There are some of us who want to support the team. However, it's tough to commit to a substantial financial commitment when your return right now is bad. Real bad.

I agree but for whatever reason Glasser's job is safe.

So you think President Glasser's job security should be based on the success of the basketball team?

But is it a big enough part that you would fire her because of it?

When the AD Dept starts losing tons of money. Her job is to make BU the most money in each Dept.

And has the department lost money? You also didn't really answer... Do you think the president should be fired based off the success of the mens basketball team? Is that success measured by wins and losses or what shows up on the balance sheet?

I see extremely few - maybe just one or two calling for anyone to be fired...
but the BU athletic department is definitely seeing a major decline in revenue....unlike 2007 thru 2011 when the media types fanned the flames and had dozens constantly calling for some firings..

Do you have any links showing revenue is down?

No I don't. I never said it was up. I have absolutely no information regarding revenue streams of Bradley. Tornado said it was down, and I'd like to see the information.

Unfortunately, the administration's is faced with a horrible 'perfect storm'.

                              1) Their only revenue generating sport returning to the abyss.
                              2) A coach's contract that is presumed to have too much buyout $.
                              3) Fan apathy (I didn't even turn the game on as, 'why?' would alumni and the core want to watch the lack of fundamentals and horrible product.
                              4) An obvious contravention or contradiction in the President's beliefs that the sports product boosts brand value. Our brand value is going WAY DOWN due to a lack of adherence to her own goals. Her Goals are not being following in baseball and basketball.
                              5) An exodus of viewership and attendance
                              6) A huge decrease in BU realignment conference marketability. Where could BU go now, if it even wanted to? WSU will not be here forever.

If I were a Trustee showing proper fiduciary care in a position, I would be going absolutely ballistic right now. I'd probably want to call for a special meeting or cry in a pillow? So Sad.

Yes. Basketball is the revenue sport for Bradley. Geno Ford does not make the ultimate decision on Itoo hall cancellation, Increase in ticket prices, Moving games to the Renaissance Center, a TV package that just got started. We used to have a coaches show that one could call in and ask questions. It was on for an hour in the evening. Now they have it early in the morning when everyone is at work. So yes a drop in revenue and support is her responsibility
