Mike - what we are seeing is resounding proof and even vindication that those guys who logged massive minutes last year but are now gone - Jake, Dyricus, Egolf - they were pretty good players and now we don't have them.
it kinda trumps that haggard argument of the empty cupboard... we're playing a softie schedule and have replaced those guys with all the new guys who were said to be BETTER by the spin we've heard, but the verdict is in.
BTW - their guard Andrew Bock was a Creighton kid who transferred back in 2010 - he had 7 pts & 7 assists
wonder how the folks in Vegas did - both games out there, Bradley didn't even come close to hitting the point spread...the Pacific and Portland betters made $$

The result might not be any better but the effort was much better. I don't see many games in person but I doubt, outside of Wichita, that we see too much of a better front-court in the MVC. The last two games we didn't seem to come close to matching the front court. Also Pacific seemed to shoot a much better percentage. (I haven't seen the stats yet.)

Another disappointing performance. Just keeps happening with no end in sight. Not sure what the solution is. Guys have to step it up. Walt's been M.I.A. and needs to show up soon before the season is totally lost. The only thing going for us is that other than Wichita, Mo State and ISU Blue the rest of the Valley looks to be in the same boat as we are. 6 and 12 might just get you 6th in the league this season. Hopefully the guys come back to practice on the 26th and are ready to roll. Hopefully Santa will bring us someone who can at least make layups.

...and if you try to blame Walt after spending months proclaiming this team is DEEP, with quality depth at every position, so that we are not a one-man team, and now claim the problem is with one single payer - you look even sillier.
One of the players interviewed said "we got too comfortable" when we were down by only 6 pts. and played without toughness in the 2nd half.
..mentioning not getting loose balls.
Other people have said we're lacking leadership, we are not sticking to the offensive plan, not organized, we are playing "discouraged",
But, here it is in a nutshell - a few people here have been saying this since last spring - we have a team of kids who can't score.
We held a team below their usual offensive output, and had we been able to shoot and score 71 points - it's a totally different story. But we only score 55.
Friday night, Portland was below their usual scoring average but we finished with only 53 points.
Since early November when we were playing bad teams, we have averaged only 61 points per game - and we've exceeded 67 only once, UTPA, another bad team.
We cannot score against decent teams...even mid-to-lower level D-I teams.
IUPUI has been giving up 70's & 80's but we barely scored 60 against them.
Look at the MVC stats - Here's a quick link - MVC STATS
Note we are the worst scoring team in the MVC despite that we've played one of the weakest schedules among the Valley teams.
We are next to last in overall shooting percentage and we are dead last by light years in 3-pt shooting percentage.
In nearly every other stat - we are in the middle of the pack (except assists, but then if you can't score you miss out on a lot of assists in the stats).
We have 13 scholarship players...if you look at the last year they played ball, before they came to Bradley, only five of them scored more than single digit scoring.
Only five players came here as decent scorers in high school or juco (Walt, Tyshon, Omari, Bell, Pross). Is it surprising that right there are our only three double digit scorers?
Two more came to BU just barely cracking double digits even though one of them barely played the two years before arriving (NW, JS)
And six came here as single digit scorers (AF, XT, CB, AB, SZ, MS). All six are still averaging single digits here - is it any wonder that if they couldn't score in HS or juco that they are single digit scorers now?
Scorers, shooters...hate to bore everyone with this....but it's been right there for any eye to see since last spring, and pointed out right here multiple times since.
