Walt can be guilty of a lot of things: being too emotional or moody, playing out of control, playing out of position, being selfish, etc. What he is not is guilty of is shaving points. To those of you who have suggested that..... what the he!! is wrong with you? Its just wrong to try and put that on one of our players like that.

Anyone suggesting that needs to be banned. Selfish yes,playing out of position yes,but to suggest point shaving is irresponsible and crazy.

Again, I'll say IMO, the problem is not Walt, it is forcing him to playout of position, and neutralizing the things he is best at by playing him almost 40 minutes at point guard. Every team we play knows how to defend him now, and we seem clueless how to adjust. I am not sure why people who should know better, don't seem to see this.

I'd say the problem is 10% Walt, only because he doesn't seem willing to change his game to fit team needs. But we have no choice but to try to fit his square peg into a round hole. We're asking him to do too much for the team. Better shooting would simplify a lot of this because it would open the lanes enough for him to maneuver without creating turnovers.

This is why is puzzles me that we still do not seem to be signing shooters. Even for next year, I don't think any of the recruits are considered shooters. I am very excited for TS because of what he is doing and the need he fills, but for years now we have needed shooters and seem to be doing nothing about it. How many of the same type of player do we need in terms of taller athletic wings? Grier can be one of 2-3 shooters on a good team, but he cannot be the lone shooter, then teams can just stay out on him and he does not even shoot that well then.

I know it is easier said than done, but a lot of lower tier teams have a couple guys that can shoot, as we have seen this year.

I also think it is time for Swopshire to play. Our defense is not that good anyway, why is he not playing if he can potentially shoot and score?

I agree WL is not all the problem but here is what is the problem. 1.} Walt is not a PG ,I'll agree with that. 2.} Walt certainly is not a 2G because you need to be a shooter to be a 2G. So it looks like Walt doesn't really have a position. What Walt does best is penetrate but when other teams play so much zone against us that becomes very hard to do. Until we can show that we are able to shoot the ball with a much higher percentage everyone is going to play zone against us hence, Walt will continue to be Walt and do what he does best. That includes turning the ball over, getting very few assists and of course lead us in scoring most games. I think most of us knew we didn't have a true PG but thought Walt would be good enough to get us by, well I think we now know different.
