  • Bloomington Central Catholic guard Nick Norton

Nick Norton, a 5'10" point guard from Central Catholic High School in Bloomington, Illinois is back after spending his last three years in Columbia, MO. He's a former Creighton commit and has reopened his recruitment. Nice story on him here: http://cihoops.com/?p=1795

Here are highlights from the start of this season: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OIGwAyqe-rI

Would think Bradley would have some interest but doesn't seem to be hearing from the staff.

I hear that Bradley has begun recruiting Nick Norton of Bloomington Central Catholic HS. So has Illinois State, Butler, and Iowa, in addition to the schools mentioned in the article below.

Here was a recent report on him-

Seems to me we've encountered a couple other Nortons from BCC that were pretty good basketball players - one of whom dominated at the State Farm Holiday Tourneys and one that won the IHSA 3-point contest

Yes he is the youngest in the family. Brother was very good and played at Truman State I believe. His sisters were also very good.

Scout -- since you were one of the first to bring the discussion about Nick Norton to the message boards
(actually the first was HERE) can you tell us what happened and why did he DE-COMMIT from Creighton
after being a 2014 commit for the Bluejays for a full year between 2012-2013?
Did Creighton want to go a different direction after Nick's injury?

This is moot now due to his commitment to UAB but, from people close to the situation, while Creighton honored his scholarship, Nick did not feel comfortable with the decision after his injury. Creighton continued to recruit other lead guards so he decided to open his recruitment. Creighton, however, did still pursue him after decommitting.

                f/u on Nick Norton..
he's on a young team that is not real good - they are just 3-5 but he's a regular starter & point guard....plays almost 28 minutes per game
he's averaging 6.4 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 5.2 apg (would lead the MVC), and hits 46.2% from 3-pt (12-26) (would be among MVC leaders!)
