It has long been said and even proven that some African kids coming into the US lie about their ages....
but here's an example of kid who did it possibly two different times - each time using a different lie about his age, such that the discrepancy has now ensnared him in controversy and affected his eligibilty...and retroactively threatened the championship his high school team won last year with him.
I guess it has become impossible now to be sure which age he has claimed is true and which is the lie.
When he came to the US from the Congo he used an age and birthdate that allowed him to be eligible for playing in his Washington, DC high school...
But then when he went back over the summer to play ball for his country in international play - he claimed an age that was different from what appears that he used once in the past - he used a different set of falsified documents earlier, claiming he was at least two years OLDER..
then he gets recruited to college (RUTGERS) and they have to present the kid for NCAA clearance but still the gets gets declared ineligible because he took impermissible benefits.
Thus - if his documents are falsified, is he to be declared eligible?
Should the Washington, DC body reopen an investigation?
