Final: IUPUI 72 - Bradley 66

I have been going to BU games since the Armory days and I can't remember a more embarrassing home loss than this one. With so few in attendance UIPUI probably felt right at home. Let's hope the guys pick it up and begin playing like we have been told they are capable of. They are still our Braves and deserve our support. What part of illegal don't you understand?

"WE NEED SHOOTERS" IUPU played a zone for most of the game and our lack of people who can shoot is so glaring. Any Coach who doesn't play us zone this year should get fired b4 he gets back to his campus. I am so tired of recruiting kids who can run and jump but couldn't throw a ball in the ocean if they were standing on the shore.
I've been saying this for years also. We don't have any shooters lined up for next year either seemingly, just more "athletes". So far even Omari hasn't been all that good at shooting threes. I miss the days of Jeremy Crouch, Danny Adams, Will Franklin, Andrew Warren, guys that may have been shorter or less athletic but made a lot of baskets behind the three line. It was fun to watch. In college basketball today you NEED to make 3's to be a good team, it just doesn't seem like we realize that at all or do anything to change it. It's very frustrating to me. Please get at least one shooter for next year, we do not need any more athletes.

Boy, that was painful to watch.
We came out completely flat in the first half and, once IUPUI established their lead, they went to a zone defense pointing out what has been our greatest deficiency for the past few years...outside shooting. Unless one or two of our guys miraculously get a Christmas gift of a three-point shot somewhere between now and the MVC season, we're going to see a hell of a lot more of that.
By the second half, the fans that were there were completely out of the game. When the Braves looked like they might make a charge, the fans would get up but IUPUI would sit us back down. In our own arena, that shouldn't happen.
I really didn't get why Geno was making the Omari/Ka'Darryl switch so much. I'd rather have a full-fledged Omari on the floor (great on offense, OK on D but with length and athleticism) rather than Ka'Darryl (excellent D, no O and lacks size). And we cannot run Ka'Darryl out there with Anthony at the same time...they are the same player (great distributors, no offense) that doesn't do any good for us on the offensive side of the ball.
Jordan (Prosser) is done as a starter, as I stated during one of our earlier games; his suspension only quickened the pace that it was coming. Taylor, Blake and Barnes will fill his minutes quite well and, by the midpoint of the MVC season, expect to see great things out of them.
Here's where I make my bold suggestion...screw playing games at Renaissance. The arena has no atmosphere (it kind of looks like you're playing a basketball game in an operating room), the acoustics are terrible, the fans impact on the game is limited (and that is being gracious) and the amenities aren't that great for an "older" crowd (read into that what you will). If we insist on playing games there, make it exhibitions and not something that counts towards our record.
Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow...

So just being hypothetical here and not trying to open a can of worms, does anyone think Glasser and company will make a drastic risk and fire Geno after this season? It could quite possibly be one of Bradley's worst in decades and this is Geno's 3rd season. Most of these players are his and the team is taking nose dives each season at his realm.

Geno gets 5 years
It's good that it happened. We will learn from it.
We're still light years better than the previous regime
We had a nice second half run, forget the rest
Geno inherited a tough position tougher than the previous regime inherited
At the end of the third year Les was finishing 8th in the Mvc and still below .500
We still had 18 wins last year and over .
I will want to give Geno 5 years
I still suggest the reason for drop in interest is lack of championships and even a CHANCE to compete for one especially the last 13 years and a demographic move from the quality programs we had in the 60s and 80s it all starts at the top as in any successful business
Kens departure was huge and should not be discounted

I see absolutely no chance of this. Bradley still has a decent chance to win 20 games this year with the weak schedule and the decline of the MVC. Plus This move would be way too costly.
And again, it is fun to see how the attempts to blame this on the previous coach are getting a lot more creative. People who like to assign blame are free to blame whoever they want, but it's clear who is in charge now, and have been for 3 years, 4 years, and 6+ years.

Walt had his worst game in 3 years last night, but didn't get much help from the other players, so I think the foolish people who are blaming Walt are out of line. For the most part, he has carried Bradley these last 2+ years.
I have seen a few fans expecting better things to come next year and the following year, and I have been very optimisitc myself about the recruits we signed so far (Thomas, Sutherland, Brooks) and the returning players.
But, what I am now a little concerned about is that maybe we saw a glimpse last night of what this team could be like next year without Walt. Without better shooters, we will be seeing zone defenses most of the time, and it really stymied us last night. I don't see that changing next year.

recruit
Tell us how Geno could recruit better? Insight from another division 1 coach would always help.. Unless you know what you are talking about, you are just making statements out of frustration of loosing.. Recruiting kids to Bradley has always been a struggle! Every now and then we get a diamond in the rough. Who was the last recruit that was a huge get for Bradley? One That came out of high school as the real deal and came to Bradley? Not 15 to 20 years ago..
