  • Final: IUPUI 72 - Bradley 66

Bradley's next game is against IUPUI (Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis) at the Renaissance Coliseum on Wednesday, Dec. 4. It is a 7:30 PM start, and may begin even later due to the 5:00 PM BU women's game against Eastern Illinois. This is the final game on this season's schedule at the Renaissance Coliseum.
There is no TV for this game.

Bradley is now 5-2. The IUPUI Jaguars are 1-7, and currently have a horrendous RPI of 344. They are 0-7 against Division I teams, their only win was a home win over a weak NAIA team, IU Northwest. They were one of the worst teams in the country last season (6-26 overall, 1-15 in a weak Summit League, and RPI of 328 ).
They are coached by Todd Howard, who took over for Ron Hunter in 2011. IUPUI had a number of pretty good seasons under Hunter. He did not have a losing record in his last 10 season there, and won 86 games in his last 4 seasons there (2007-08 through 2010-11). But Howard only won 14 games his first season in 2011-12, 6 games all last season, and only the 1 win this season.
They are one of the worst 3-point shooting teams in D1- 28.7%

Their leading scorer is Ian Chiles, a 6'1" junior guard who averages 18.1 ppg.
    Here are their other stats-

Bradley has played IUPUI three times in recent years-
BU beat IUPUI 70-53 in Peoria on Dec. 30, 2000
BU lost at IUPUI 75-73 on Dec. 21, 2002, and
BU beat IUPUI 79-72 last season in Indianapolis

You make a good point about IUPUI and their poor decisions regarding head coaches...
IUPUI is the Chicago State of Indianapolis - they should do better if only they were a bit more serious about basketball.

I know Ron Hunter didn't exactly lead them to national prominence - but he didn't do badly at all...and did get to the NCAA once.
He even averaged almost 22 wins over the final four-years at IUPUI - but....
Someone at IUPUI must have thought they could do better - so they failed to get behind him and give him the support and extension he wanted - effectively forcing him out ... and he goes to Georgia State to get a more secure contract (6 years).

BUT - he also had a talented son, RJ Hunter, a pretty danged good player at Indianapolis Pike HS - who would have been a great player at IUPUI - but of course RJ went to Georgia State with his dad and is now a great player there - was a Freshman All American last year, averaging 17 pts/5 rebs & already on the same pace this year.

You know as well as I do there won't be 4000 people there. To set that expectation for the game is a bit nuts. They'll be lucky to get 2,000. I myself can think of about a dozen reasons why I don't want to go.

Agree completely-hopefully it isn't like the last game w/ lots of empty seats. Also need more students and it is on campus and it should be loud. A chance for people to watch the team up close as there isn't a bad seat @ the RC

I know this won't fly - and I know it is as it is....and I know people will claim this is NOT Bradley's fault -
...but LOTS and lots of the older, long time fans used to go to games up at the old Fieldhouse and park on the streets nearby - plenty of room and for the most part - never a problem finding a spot..

BUT - parking on all those streets (Institute, Glenwood, Maplewood, Cooper, even Columbia Terr.) is now BANNED....signs with nasty warnings threatening to tow your car...
Like it or not - if you ban your best fans from parking where they have parked for decades - they are inclined to skip this game - forego the long lines and waits getting in and out of the unfamiliar deck....and please - don't blame the messenger...

This one is still hard to figure out with Granger, Gillingham and Gilbert on the team.

Used to walk to the Fieldhouse from West Peoria or park on a side street a block or 2 off Western. Wouldn't do that now.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

You might get your car ticketed, even if you got home safely. Most of the side streets near the Renaissance Coliseum are posted now as parking only for residents with city stickers on the car window.

Here are the game notes: http://www.bradleybraves.com/ViewArt...CLID=209329905

As for parking, you are not limited to the deck, though I don't know that the spots all around campus will be as available on a Wednesday night with school in session as they were for the Sunday afternoon game. But, if the spots are open throughout the campus, they are available to all-comers after 6 p.m.

If parking becomes a problem then someone from Bradley needs to go to the city and request a waiver on certain nights. Again i get back to the little things that need to be done for a succesful athletic program but unfortunately they are not. Why? I am sure the outside marketing firm will look at their graphs and charts and be able to figure it out

Looking at the records you may think this should be an easy win and maybe it will be but IUPUI has been competitive every game. I think it could be a close game or IUPUI could win if BU doesn't play well. I've seen a couple of their games on tv and they seem pretty solid to me despite the record.

I remember the IUPUI team last year vs. the Braves and they looked decent. We can't underestimate them...one thing Geno has done the past 2 seasons tenure is get the guys up for the games no matter who we're up against.
Was tired of hearing, "We just didn't come ready to play."...yes, even the 1st year that Geno was head coach I remember guys on various occasions express this.
Last year at UIC, we very well could have gone into the game thinking it didn't matter, but we were ready and pulled one out with grittiness...led to a post-season tournament.
