UCLA kinda blew out Northwestern - who were missing their best player Drew Crawford (Nate Taphorn got his first-ever start)...
The lead was 20-25 point much of the 2nd half but it did appear
as though UCLA coach Steve Alford responded to chants from the crowd to try to get the score to 100...and UCLA was still jacking up 3's and going for some dunks with a little mustard on them --
Whether Alford really was running up the score (UCLA had scored 100 in each of their two previous games and there was talk in the media that 3 such games in a row hadn't happened since their 30-0 team of 1971 - plus the betting line was 15 and the game WAS being played in Las Vegas!) - is open for debate...but...
This angered Northwestern head coach Chris Collins who had already subbed his deep bench - and then a shouting match followed..
No media report officially reported what was said but one fan on the UCLA message board reported that it had something to do with Collins telling Alford to go somewhere and then Alford shouting back at Collins to eat something unpleasant..
