  • IPFW at Illinois

Future Bradley opponent IPFW played at Illinois tonight, and they lead for much of the game. Illinois took back the lead in the final 2 minutes. IPFW had a chance to tie inside the final minute, but a couple missed free throws and 4 turnovers cost them. Illinois held on for the 57-55 win at home.
Box score for the Illinois Fighting Illini vs. Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons NCAAM game from November 29, 2013 on ESPN. Includes all points, rebounds and steals stats.

Illinois was outrebounded 39-33, and they shot only 4-21 from three. Their bench did not score a basket.
IPFW was just 2-13 from the free throw line!

IPFW will be quite a challenge. Forbes is smooth in the post for a guy over 300 pounds. The rest of the team is mature, quick and strong. I was impressed with IPFW.

wow - IPFW went into Champaign and almost won - losing by just two and even holding a lead in the final 3 minutes.

Illinois did not get one single basket off the bench - and theit total bench production was 3 pts on 0-4.
Now maybe IPFW is really good and nobody has noticed it yet - or Illini might just be vulnerable because of their bench.
IPFW is 6-3 but two of their wins are over DII's (Kokomo & Purdue-Calumet)
and the other four are narrow wins over really low D-I's (Kennesaw State, EIU, UTPA who we just beat, and Tenn. Tech) their other loss was Texas A&M-CC

They have not beaten a team with a winning record. We have to hold our own against them despite their personnel
